Overall for the money and proximity to WDW the Worldquest resort is a great value. We stayed in a 3 bedroom unit which had plenty of space for our group. The unit was clean, and had everything we needed for our 5 night stay in Orlando. That being said we did have some issues, some I put on the service level of the resort, some are just the layout and design of the resort itself.
Check in was fine (9:30 PM) but our first room had a water-soaked carpet in one of the bedrooms. At first, the front desk did not want to move us to a different room preferring to send a maint person to assess the problem. At this point it was 10pm and already past my 3 year old's bedtime. After a little more conversation we told to come back to the front desk to get a new room in the same building. I had to drive back to the front desk to get the new room assignment and keys and then move all the luggage. This is not a 4 star resort so a little self-service is fine and entirely expected, although I was a little annoyed at having to drive back to the front desk to get it all cleared up.
Resort / Design Issues
For those unfamiliar with the resort, the other comments about trying to get assigned to Building 1, 2 or 3 are pretty key. We were in Building 7 which is a little hike from the main area ( reception, club house, pool, etc). I asked for Building 1, 2 or 3 but was told those were all filled. No biggie, since we were spending most of the time at WDW anyway I did not really care, but it would have been nice to take a quick dip after getting back from the parks or be able to run up to the room to grab something when you are down at the pool. That is not really convenient from building 7.
All of the living areas of the units are tiled floors. Bedrooms are carpeted, but the kitchen, living area, dining area, and hallways are all tiled. We unfortunately had pretty noisy upstairs neighbors the 1st couple of nights who apparently decided to play musical chairs and run relay races at 2AM. Loud enough to wake up .... you guessed it... my 3 year old, 2 out of the 5 nights. Pretty much anytime someone moves a chair on the floor above you , you are going to hear it, and not a faint off in the distance type of noise. The only good thing is that since we were in building 7, by the 3rd day of our stay, I think there were only another 4 occupied units in that entire building, or at least that is what it looked like from the parking lot. So the building was pretty empty.
All units that I saw have exterior main entrances and bedroom windows which are exposed to the public walkways for each building. So from a noise and safety perspective, not the most ideal situation, at least for us. In our unit, 7307, every single bedroom had a window adjoining the public walkways. More of an issue for days 1 and 2, not so much in the deserted days 3 - 5 in building 7 (BFE).
I am 50/50 on staying here again. The value and proximity to WDW are pretty hard to beat for the space and level of the property. For my family, the layout and the noise levels were not ideal and were not necessarily deal breakers but provided enough annoyance to give me 2nd thoughts on staying here again. I give the world quest a pass on the first room issue, since stuff like that is bound to happen. How easy they make it on their guests when something like that occurs is a different issue.
Request Building 1, 2 or 3 to be close to the club house and pool
Request a top floor if you dont w...
