“steller place for the class of hotel. worth it.”
Here is our information. Two adults 44+54, attending a business conference at the WDW Dolphin. We travel often all of the country and stay at all levels of Marriotts and MGM properties. We have, in the Kissimee area, stayed at the Gaylord Palms, Buena Vista Suites, Springhill seaworld and Disney properties. This may be my favorite and here is why.
First, we had a 1 bedroom king suite. Check in is at 3pm. They will check you in early if your room is ready. The young man at the door, could not have been nicer. They will hold your bags for you. He gave me some maps because we had hair and pedicure appts. 6 min up 535 (nice drive) to Sand Lake road (nice area). We walked right across the street from the hotel for lunch at Macaroni Grill (i highly recomment the Miler ale house and the mexican place in the adjoing strip mall). We did our errands and got in at 2pm. Check in took all of 3 minutes. The lobby is small has lovely appointed chairs, tables, books and 2 computers with internet. There is a small "game room" with 5 flat screen TV's and video consols. I am not sure how all that works because we did not have kis with us. Another small room, had tv's ,couches, kids games and kids books. It was cozy and clean and i actually spent time reading a lovely old Walt Disney "Making of Fantasia" book while waiting for my laundry to dry one day. So now i will add- that they have coin op washer &dryers on floors 3&4. Good machines and a place to fold. I love this and not all hotels have this, and with the price of luggage fees and especially with kids....great. Bring coins $1.50 per load, for each. Bring your own detergent packs. I did not look in the little "store" but i bet they have them and lots of little things you forget on a trip and munchies. There is a big Walgreens across the street and a bargain world. There is also an ABC liquor store 1 block down north.
The room. We were on the first floor. The hotel is actually small and boutique like. It had a desk with wired internet included. A couch, chair, coffee table and good lighting. Flat screen ontop of a dresser. coffee pot, mini fridge, microwave and bar sink--new and all clean. Standard bathroom with full tub. A wee bit older, but redone and super clean. 2 full closets with hangers and an iron. Bedroom with a seperate door, flat screen, dresser, 2 nite stands, alarm clock, all your ports for charging phones and ipods etc...even cords! Nice windows that looked onto the next hotel property. Again very clean and standard comphy. Plenty of pillows and extra blankets etc. I did not find the hotel to be overly loud or echoy. There are 2 elevators. One complaint NO SAFE. I find this with other Mariotts and i hate it! I have written them.
The pool. What a treat! Not large. Nice tables and chairs with umbrellas, lougers, cocktail tables. Pool is quite all day until 5ish when family's come back. There are towels there. Pool is so clean! Great job, keep your pool guy.
Breakfast. Nice dining area. Hours were 6:30-10am. Muiffins, bagels, english muffins, yogarts, dry cereal, fresh fruit, milk, cof juices and scrambled eggs and sausage patties and a nice waffel make your own station. Again, nice crowd, business men, retired couples, families. The earlier the better, busy from 7:30-9. There are about 6 wooden highchairs.
Smoking. No smoking in hotel at all. Nice ratan chairs and couches out front with ample ashtrays and covered, away from main entrance--cleaned all the time. Very well done.
Location. Exactly 2.2 miles from DTD (downtown Disney). You could walk it. Sidewalks everywhere! There is alot of car traffic on the road out front from 7am til 11 am, so learn the back routes to Disney. The entrance to the busy rt. 4 is two blocks away. Again if going north to Universal take the back roads (email me).
Check out. We got a paper under the door, and as long as you gave them the CC you want to use, you are all set. Always cut up your room keys, they contain personal information btw.
Maid service. It is daily. They are great and trustworty. I left my purse out everyday. They are part of the conserve water plan going on in Kissimmee which i LOVE! So unless you leave a card on the bed they will make your bed but not change all the linen, same with towels...leave on floor to be replaced. I love this and wish all hotels did this everywhere. There is shampoo, soap, conditioner and lotion and shower cap. Please remember to leave a tip for the maid if you are happy. I left a note for a few extra glasses and got them. Every one of the staff are polite, smile, stand aside for you to pass. True service.
Parking. Spots around the hotel are limited and you will have to use the strip mall parking spaces which are close and well lit.
I think that is everything. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Good for all travelers.
