“Great Meal”

We recently dined here in December 2007 and had a surprisingly great meal. There are very few decent places to eat in Magic Kingdom and we hadn't liked Tony's in the past so we were a bit hesitant. We both had great meals. I especially enjoyed the Spaghetti and Meatballs.

I chose to eat at Tony's with my boyfriend because of convenience. We were both aware that the Magic Kingdom has the worst dining selection within Disney World but were told by the hostess at Tony's that the wait would only be 15-25 minutes. After considering that it would take us longer to get to Downtown Disney and wait for a table at a restaurant there we agreed to give it a try. Terrible mistake.
Our wait stretched to 45 minutes (I pointed this out to a hostess who seemed uninterested in anything but talking to a fellow host). They require that you stay in the noisy lobby area of the restaurant because they do not give out pagers; the hosts mispronounce your name to alert you of a table while you strain to hear them. If you cannot hear them, which is likely since it's so loud, you loose your table.
The menu choices are slim and ridiculously overpriced. I expected to pay quite a bit to eat at one of only three sit-down restaurants in the Magic Kingdom but $16 spaghetti with meat balls seemed extreme. We ordered artichoke dip as an appetizer and both had the Seafood Diavolo (at $27 a plate). What a waste! The food was bland and came out daringly quick (so quick that we realized that the limited menu selection allowed them to prepare everything well in advance of our arrival). The Seafood Diavolo consisted of lukewarm spaghetti in a canned red sauce with three shrimp, several mussels and clams, and a few slivers of tough salmon. Almond cheesecake for dessert was marginally better but the overall experience was greatly lacking in food quality and service. I suggest restaurants at Downtown Disney or Epcot's World Showcase (we paid just as much there for a significantly better meal) as opposed to this rip-off.

On a recent trip to Disney world we ate at Tony's, and it was barely a step up from my kids school lunches. The food tasted like it had been reheated, and the chicken was like a rubber chicken! What a disaapointment...eat elsewhere. Also ate at Chef Mickeys, and it was a better choice, but really you would only go there for the characters. Food was o.k. for a buffet. Our favorite is still Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness lodge.

I'd say this is just your average italian place. Nothing amazing, nothing terrible. We did have a good server and got seated quickly (we had reservations). The food was fine, but nothing to write home about. All in all, just kind of average. I'm told it's great to book while the parade is going on, so that you can sit on the patio and see everything go by, but we were unable to do so. Might be a good tip for anyone else looking to book ahead though.
