After completing our visit to Animal Kingdom, we drove over to MGM for the evening and our dinner at the Sci-Fi Dine-In restaurant.
Our reservations were for 5:20, but we arrived early and had a short wait. When seating time arrived, we were taken into the large “drive-in theater” where several rows of small “mini-cars” were located with three seats per car. We were seated in the back seat of a front row car, so we had a good view of the “movie screen” which was showing many of the old sci-fi movie promos. The atmosphere of the place was really cute.
For the meal, I had a milkshake, the onion rings for appetizer, the butcher steak for entrée, and the hot fudge sundae for dessert. The milkshake, sundae, and onion rings were fantastic. The butcher steak was fairly good, but not what I was expecting in quality and the potatoes were just so-so.
Our waiter accidentally brought me an order of the Spinach and Artichoke Dip as an appetizer, then realized his mistake when I asked about the onion rings. However he simply left the plate with us, so essentially we got an extra dish with the meal. Carol enjoyed this mistake more than I did, as I didn’t care for it much. The waiter was also very prompt at keeping our water glasses replenished.
Overall, it was a meal with great atmosphere and service, but not super-great food. Rating for food = 7, rating for service = 9.
