We stayed at the Quality Inn Plaza on International Drive for 4 nights as part of a round the world trip my Wife and I did for 7 months.
We had been to Orlando on a number of occasions before but had always stayed at higher end hotels due to the fact that it was our main holiday, on this occasion we were on a budget and needed something cheap. We certainly got that with the QIP, we only paid $39 a night plus tax for each of the 4 nights.
We would have stayed at the QIP for the duration of our whole stay (11 nights) if the cheap rate had been available. However with the hotel being close to the convention center, the rates went up quite considerably for our 5th night, so instead we opted for a similarly low rate at the Comfort Inn LBV.
The location is great, and always will be as it is smack bang in the middle of International Drive, in fact our preferred area of I Drive as the southern part seems a little less built up and bit greener than the northern part. There are countless restaurants and activities in close proximity of the hotel, many within walking distance.
As for the hotel itself, very impressive. Sure it's not much to look at, it is basically your typical motel type property on 4 (I think) floors with ample car parking. The reception area is nice, and the staff very friendly. There is an excellent deli selling light bites, although I do disagree with the importing of "UK" chocolate bars just to appease us Brits...sure US chocolate isn't so great, but I've now got used to a Milky Way in the USA being a Mars Bar, that's how it should remain!!!!!
We had a few beers in the on site bar where the barman was extremely nice, not the cheapest but a nice way to relax after a heavy day at the parks. They also do bar meals in this area, which accompanies the on-site restaurant which we didn't eat in so can't comment on.
The room itself was very spacious, unfortunately they had run of King rooms so we had to make do with two double beds, which for us both being over 6ft was a little tricky but manageable for the short time we were there. The furnishings were all in a good state, the room was extremely clean and all in all it was a very nice experience. Bathroom was a nice size as well with a very good shower.
Having driven past the QIP previous on other Orlando trips we knew in terms of location we would be fine, but it was a pleasant surprise to see a well run hotel, with excellent on-site facilities and at a price to suit the budget.
I certainly would stay there again and would recommend the hotel to other guests as well.
