This place gives you more than the average Quality Inn for the money, they offer you a free happy hour, they give you a free hot breakfast with eggs, bacon, pancakes, ect, the rooms are big the price is right, the only problem I had was that I was there on bussiness and was told when I made the reservations that there was free wireless in the rooms, when I checked in I found out I could not get wireless in the room I was in so I had to do my work in the lobby, other than that I had no complaints, pool was big place was clean.

The worst Quality Inn I have ever stayed in. Rooms very dirty and not maintained. Daily maid service lacking--no vacuuming and limited towel exchange. Moldly areas around bath, loose and missing towel holders. Shower head not working. This place needs a major rehab and soon. Breakfasts are good. Most staff friendly but not trained or able to answer questions about internet access etc. Pool area OK. STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE!

We stayed here from July 29th through to August 12th 2007.
We last stayed here in 1998 when we last visited Florida. Our Room 316 was exceptionally clean with no problems what so ever. The towels were changed every single day without fail and the room was quickly tidied which was lovely. There was 2x Adults and 2x Children in our room. We had 2 twin beds for our family in the same room which was ok and we didn't mind. The Free Cocktails for two hours was nice and the lady Jodie was very friendly and chatty which is very good when you are running a bar. The Hotel Manager did run the bar one night and asked for my ID! I am 37 on my next Birthday! Thanks for that you made my day/year/life!
When we last visited in 1998 the free cocktails for two hours was unlimited, however when we went this year there was a sign from July 19th everyone was limited to just 2x Alcoholic drinks. I was ok with that although my Husband was a bit disappointed with this. The soft drinks are unlimited. I had mainly Bloody Mary's and Vodka & Coke. There was free Prezels to hand as well.
The breakfast time from 6.30am-9.30am was extremely busy. I mainly had the bran flakes and boiled eggs with bread if available. There was the usual fry up, but the bacon was too crozzled/black and greasy for me. The eggs were also scrambled or boiled. There was potatoes squared which looked like there was peppers in them im not sure as i didn't have them, there was lots of cholesterol filled cakes/buns for breakfast too. Bagels, brown/white bread. the toaster was far too slow and people kept cutting in line, however i found this down to plain rudeness, it depends how patient you are. There was mixed fruit salad for the health conscious but i only saw that twice. For me and my family, because it was so busy it was a case of grab what you can. There was juices and hot drinks too. I noticed on the last day there was hot drinks just inside the reception area for the guests in the evenings, but no-one ever told us so we didn't know. We never saw out Thomas Cook Rep once while we stayed there. Shanta the Lady on reception was very friendly. There was one female there behind the desk who was plain ignorant the whole time we was there. I do not know whether there was something wrong with her, although she did a lot of face pulling and was not intentive to my husband once while we was there. Our In Room Safe was unavailable so we used the reception safe for free which ok, better than nothing.
The Pool was warm even at night and didn't close till 10pm. The Jacuzzi was nice and was cleaned once while we were there. The Mini Shop was very well priced and the couple who ran the shop were extremely friendly. We took the Non Driving Option and took the free shuttles to Universal and Disney. The shuttles to Universal were so straight forward and quick. The ones to Disney took nearly 2 hours and people were piled on to the point where people couldn't breathe. If you go to Magick Kingdom, leave plenty of time for travel. Where ever you go in Disney, the drop off point is Epcot and you have to make your one way from there, be it another shuttle/monorail and or ferry.
August was very hot and humid, drink plenty of water and wear lots of sunscreen. There was a few children in our hotel that were lobster red which is uncalled for.
In my opinion Chillies Restaurant was our best joint to eat out. The Americans like tips, however the ones at Chillies some asked if you wanted change out of U.S. Dollar Cheques and when your bill came to $48.00 and you gave them $100.00, i thought it was a bit cheeky asking if we wanted change!. The food was out of this world though. They make ballons for the children while you wait for your meal.
The old Beltz/Mercado/Point Orlando is shut so avoid, we stumbled for all of them and were very disappointed.
The best place to shop is The Mall At Millenia, very chic.
Watch out for lizards and snakes. There were snakes near the hotel. There are plenty of shops and amusements that have been built around International Drive and is a lot better than 9 years ago.
I like Quality Suites as it is great value for you money. Free Breakfast/Drinks/Shuttles, what else can you ask for!
I always find this place the cheapest when you put these 3 things in comparison.
Enjoy!

I booked the Quality Suites Universal through a package deal on lastminutetravel.com. I checked several sites for reviews and photos before booking it. The reviews I saw were about half good and half not so good.

The reviews are right on. Most people say it's ok, but there are better options out there. I agree. The room was clean, which is the most important thing to me. We had a lot of amenities we wanted, like a refrigerator, microwave, pool, free breakfast, and a suite. The maid service was very good. Friendly employees, especially the man who works in the hotel shop in the lobby.

Our room - Much smaller than photos I saw, it had 2 double beds and a pull out sofa bed. Bathroom was clean with good water flow in the shower and plenty of towels. Two tv's, but only one remote and the one we had needed batteries. When we called the front desk, they said they had a shortage of remotes and had to limit each room to one. They had someone bring up a new remote, but they took the other one. We also asked for more pillows and were told they would check and see if they could get us 2 more. Four hours later, we had to call back and ask again, and they brought them right up. Nice armoire in the bedroom which held an iron and board. The dresser had several drawers, but they didn't close properly, and the edges of the dresser were scratched and old looking. The refigerator was nice and big, had lots of room for drinks and leftovers from eating out. Only problem - there was a smell coming from around the refrigerator. We could smell it when walking or standing by the door going into the bedroom. We didn't think it was coming from the refrigerator, but maybe behind it, or from the air conditioning, which was on the other side of the wall from the refrigerator. This smell would come and go, sometimes we could smell it, sometimes not. It was not pleasant. Smelled like something died behind the wall.

The pool - Since all the rooms face the pool, you won't escape the noise in the evening. We were on the 5th floor and it sounded like it was right outside the door. We found the best time to be at the pool was morning until about 1pm. Then the kids come out and take over. Good thing it's only open until 10pm or you wouldn't get any sleep. The pool was nice, we enjoyed it very much.

Free breakfast - decent. Better get there early though, or there won't be anything left. They make 3 huge pans of scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon or sausage, and home fries with peppers and once it's gone, that's it. There was also cereal, toast, bagels, and mixed fruit. We got down there around 7am each morning and there was always plenty of food then.

Manager's reception - went once, had two sips of a margarita, threw it out and didn't go back. But, I'm not much of a drinker either.

All in all, I was a little disappointed in the place, mostly cause it just didn't look as good as I hoped it would, but there was certainly nothing horrible about the place. The smell was a problem, but it didn't ruin our stay or anything. I would probably stay elsewhere on a return trip, but if this was all I could get, I would be ok with it.

We arrived at 11:30 AM, on August 5, but could not check in yet. We went on to Sea World as planned. We arrived back at the hotel at 11:00 PM and had no problem checking in. The staff was very helpful and they even had a cart pushed around back to meet us to bring up our luggage. We were on the 3rd floor. 2 TVs were wonderful with a 6 year old who loves Disney Channel. Breakfast was fine each morning. There was an odor by the elevator, but the next morning the cleaning crew was working on it and it was much better. Very good location, not far from Sea World which was a plus.

We were here for 3 nights, and had no problems with our room or the services. We will definitely stay here again.
