“Oh my . . .”
This was not the worst hotel I ever stayed at - but it is in the bottom 3, and is the worst affiliated with a chain. We were booked at their 'sister' hotel, the Quality Inn at the Orlando Airport and when we arrived at 1 AM, the desk clerk said they had 'water problems' in a few rooms and that they would put us up at this Park Inn.
The bright blue flashing lights at the entrance were not really a welcoming start (don't look into the light!). The desk clerk took a copy of our driver's license and a couple of phone numbers (maybe to notify next of kin) and we were off to our room. The TV had remnents of blue tape on it (evidence tape?) and the remote was held together with masking tape. The beds were very firm (think plywood), the shower did have very good pressure (the one positive).
No need to bring pets if you are alone as the ant colony in the bathroom is hours of entertainment. The air conditioner worked very well, except that if you ran it too long the flourescent light over the sink would not start - no problem, if you waited about 30 minutes it came on. Then you could tell that it was held into the drywall with two screws that were just hanging in the wallboard - my guess is that it will come down off the wall in the next day or so.
Room was moderately dirty, but there was an envelope on the desk with a hand scrawled note asking for tips (in English and Spanish). Perhaps if you stay a number of nights and tip well they may actually remove the ants and reattach things to the wall.
