“Delicious!”

We had a fabulous dinner at Captain Andersons in Panama Beach Florida. It lived up to its reputation and the wait and prices were not outrageous. They charcoal grill the fish that have been caught that day. We ate grilled grouper, a whole fried flounder, shrimp in lemon garlic sauce and grilled amberjack. We opted for the Greek salads and broccoli cheese soup for starters.
Captain Anderson is Greek and his whole family plus many other Greek folks run the place. The salads were great and were garnished one of the delicious pepperoncini. A basket of obviously restaurant-baked bread came along as well and was superb. Our entries arrived in perfect time and did not disappoint us. The grilled fish was topped with thinly sliced scallions and a lemon butter parsley sauce. The flounder was perfectly cooked and the shrimp meal was one of the original restaurant recipes. The shrimp was peel and eat, but arrived in a brownish lemony garlic wine sauce. The side dishes were au gratin potatoes and grilled vegetables. They had a desert cart to die for, but we had reached our limit.
On the way out we enjoyed scanning all the celebrity signed photos on the walls along with the above-mentioned awards proudly displayed.
All in all this is one of those restaurants that is on the A list. We are glad we ventured there. It is big and busy and probably in prime season difficult to get into but worth the effort.

“A must for every trip!”

Captain Anderson's Restaurant

We go to Captain Anderson's every year, and have yet to be dissapointed! The food is great, and the prices are what you would expect for a nice restaurant. The only negative is the decor, which could be updated some. Otherwise our favorite place in PCB!

“One step up from Capt. "Ds"”

Anderson brings them in because of location ,most visitors from the area( 300 miles or so) he has been around for years. He used to be downtown before they built the marina. He went to St Andrews and built what he has over the years. The food is no better or worse than Capt.Ds" or Long John Silvers. During the season it is packed and the noise level high as is they rush em thru for the next batch. if you want up-scale go to the Boars Head, King Fish at Bay Point,Black Angus for beef or really great is the Saltwater Grill. I lived in PC for years and know what I'm talking about. Not just one or two visits.

“Twice During One Trip!”

I was shocked to see the negative reviews on this place! I'd give anything to have such a "pricey", "touristy" restaurant like this in Chicago. My wife and I broke our rule, and dined there twice in four days. We learned of this gem from all of the guests and employees at the Sunset Inn, where we stayed on the beach.

I had the best whole red snapper of my life---a huge, perfectly cooked fish, for $25.00. Try getting one half that size in Chicago for less than $35.00. My wife had the best fresh fish in the house---grouper imperial. Great fried shrimp, stuffed shrimp, lobster bisque, clam chowder and huge Greek salads (loaded with Feta cheese.) When we go back to PCB for our next vacation, I will try one of their steaks---they look great, and everyone says that they taste even better than they look.

We dined at five different restaurants during our seven day trip, and Captain Anderson's has the best ambience, and second best seafood. From our window table on the marina, we watched the charter fishing boats land at 4:30 PM, and the mates were busy putting on a show---cleaning and dispersing the fishermen's fresh catches. Guests at our motel had a great day of fishing with Captain Anderson's Charter Fishing---took a whole "mess" of red snapper that they caught, back to the motel with them, for future suppers.

These same guests had three children with them, but somehow managed to dine at the "pricey" Captain Anderson's four times in two weeks without going bankrupt. My wife and I refuse to eat at the "un-pricey" Mickey D's, Wendy's and BK while travelling---got a million or so of 'em in Chi-town! Hope all of those naysayers never have to dine in a nice Chicagoland restaurant---$300.00 for three people is quite normal.

There are many delicious meals featured on the menu at Captain Anderson's for fifteen dollars. And, Jason was a wonderful and knowledgeable waiter---he made us feel so welcome! At least 90 % of the diners were "locals" (as we were visiting during the "off" season)---many sailors from the nearby naval base (who seemed quite able to afford dining at such a "pricey" restaurant.)

All I know is that I can't wait for my next PCB vacation, so that I can eat at this "over-priced" restaurant three more times---twice for great seafood, and once for a delicious steak. Captain Anderson's is ranked as one of the top ten restaurants in Florida, and one of the top fifty restaurants in the USA. Not bad for such a "pricey", "touristy" establishment!!!

“Best Scallops EVER!!”

Captain Anderson's Restaurant

13 Aug 2007

My daughter and I absolutely loved the broiled scallops at Captain Anderson's. We love seafood of all kinds, but these scallops were the BEST we have ever tasted. Everyone at our table made fun of us because we closed our eyes with every bite, so we could savor the yumminess.
The entire meal was excellent and our waitress, Deanna, was awesome. If you miss out on the scallops you are crazy!!!
