We have been to PCB the last 2 yrs and both times we have stayed at the Celadon. We love that it's on the quiet end of PCB. I feel like it's the cleaner side as well. When we stayed at the Celadon in 2010 we stayed in Condo 907. Both years we booked our condos through vrbo. Staying in Condo 907 was wonderful. Brian and Dixie (the owners) were very friendly and they gave us a rate of 700 total for the whole 2nd week of Aug. Mind you, this was when no one was going to the beach b/c of the oil spill so we got a fabulous rate. The lobby is breathtaking with floor to ceiling windows. That particular lady that checked us in wasn't overly friendly but I think she was just busy with checking people in. The 2nd week of Aug was perfect as we missed the summer rush. We did not have to wait on elevators. The walkway over the road to the parking garage was air conditioned. The condo was spotless. We stayed in the one bedroom with bunk beds in the hallway, which our 12 and 8 yr old boys loved. There was tile throughout the entire condo as opposed to carpet. Loved this. Kitchen and bathrooms were stocked with everything we needed. Beach chairs were not included with our price but Brian and Dixie provided some for us to take down to the beach. Two pools were great and clean. Heated pool is across the street. The beach side pool is not heated and can be a lot cooler but we didn't have any prob swimming in it. Beaches were clean. If you want to use the workout room, you need to get a pass from the front desk to open the door to the workout room. We never had a problem our whole stay. The only thing that was a small minus was that the internet connection was an ethernet cord so when you hook up online, you have to sit at the bar in the kitchen to be on the computer. But like I said, that is something very minor.
When we went last year in 2011, we stayed on the 19th floor and we went in the middle of July. WE WILL NEVER GO IN JULY AGAIN!!!! It was packed. It took us 20 minutes to drive the 2 miles to Pier Park. All week, we had to take backroads to go where we wanted b/c there were traffic jams on Front Beach Rd. We waited for 45 mins for a cart to unload the car. Finally, we just made multiple trips from the car to the condo b/c there was no hope of getting one. The lines for the elevators were very long and then being on the 19th floor, whether we were going up or coming down, it seemed like we stopped on every floor for someone to get on or off. This condo was the same layout as the previous year. I really liked the owner of this condo. Very nice and accomodating. The condo itself wasn't as nice as the previous year. Carpet in the living room and bedroom had multiple stains, furniture was older and there were dirt marks all over the walls. This condo had wifi so you could hook up to computer in any room. Both times we've stayed there, the staff has always been really friendly and helpful. Also, this July trip there was tons of seaweed the entire trip. It smelled really bad and I read some reviews recently from people who were in PCB the week after us last July and they said the seaweed was really bad along with dead fish on the beach. We never saw any dead fish during our week but the seaweed was really, really bad. You had to wade out through it to get to a clear part of the ocean. My 8 yr old didn't want to go in so we bought him an inflatable boat to haul him through it. When we went in Aug of 2010, there was only seaweed the first 3 days and then it cleared up.
We have already booked a week at Splash, which is next door to the Celadon but after reading the reviews this morning, I am looking at condos at the Celadon to switch our reservations. At least we know that the Celadon staff is friendly and the resort is clean.
