I visited this hotel during Spring Break and found it overpriced and not that enjoyable.
As many people have written here, there are several security policies associated with this hotel, which some people praise and others, like myself, find a bit too much. First of all, you have to wear wristband bracelets the ENTIRE time you are on the premises, which causes plenty of inconvenience when swimming, on the beach, and showering. Also, it looks extremely tacky when going to other attractions on the beach (whether restaurants, movie theaters, and especially "dignified" places like upscale eateries or church). Plus, at least during the spring break session (maybe year-round), there is plenty of "product placement" in the hotel, with the elevators painted with ads for the Army and Venus razors. Plus, the wristbands are laced with "Go army" in big letters, so if you want to be a walking advertisement for the US Army, then come to this place.
There were rumors that the elevators were not working when I was there, but I personally had no trouble during my four-night stay. The rooms do have DVD players and a nice television selection, but during Spring Break months, they do remove the coffee makers and the alarm clocks from every room.
Upon entering the room, you have to fill out a checklist to see what items in the room were missing or broken, and upon checking out, you had to get a worker to inspect your room. The atmosphere of the hotel during the Spring Break months resembled that of A) a college dormitory and B) that of a high school or elementary school convention as there was plenty of security with many workers talking down to its guests. There was at least one case where someone was kicked out of their room and was forced to write an apology letter to a security guard during my stay on the premises.
Use your best judgment when vacationing at this hotel. During the day, it is very loud with many teenagers and 20-something people shouting and partying, and in the evening, it is very loud, so it's not the best place for a family vacation.
The view from the hotel and accessibility to the beach are both selling points. Parking is across the street from the hotel, but there is no shuttle service (at least during Spring Break), so that is an inconvenience when checking in and out.
Again, I found my experience not to be the best, but it's likely that many other hotels on the beach have similar policies. Use your best judgment when choosing hotels on the beach.
