Went to Sandpiper Club Med for the first time this past weekend. Lucky us we live in Florida so we got a nice resident discount.
First off, the staff are very nice and jumping to help make sure you have a good time. The place is very nice - great landscaping, spacious, clean room. Pools are very nice. Food is very good too, and there is lots of it! One of the nicest this is that everything is paid for. All food, drinks, tips. There are no bills or tip jars. Just smile and say thank you! (There are several activites that have additional costs such as jetskis and water toys, roller blades, scooters, tours, daytrips.)
The best value to be had here is by families, particularly with younger kids. They have very organized activities for them trough out the day. My teen, however, was a little too old for that. Now there is a teen club, but it's more like kids coming and going without any real structure. Sometimes there would be other kids, sometimes not.
Did I mention the kids? There are children everywhere! Screaming and playing and having a good time! Unfortunately their parents are no where to be found.
Sandpiper has many activities to keep you busy. Unfortunately, we were unaware of several of the activities and missed out. We were given a schedule of when the sports opened and closed- Sailing, Archery, trapeze, golf, waterski... but no understanding of signup times.
For example, we waited in line to waterski for an hour only to find out we needed to sign up first thing in the morning. There are also nice shows. We missed the first two since we didn't know about them.
I wish someone would have pointed out that the activities for the day are posted outside the buffet restaurant. This is the only place for info.
Also, there is a nice, non-buffet restaurant for dinner. The food is sooooo good. The dinner is an appetizer, soup, sala, entree and desert. You must make reservations in the reception at 8am for that evening - another thing we missed out on since we didn't know.
Lastly, there are a ton of kids. Some of them are fine, but many of them are rude and very loud. This is a great place to go if you want to let your kids go wild, but not so great if you want relaxation, peace and quiet.
All in all, it was a nice place and we might go back.
