We stayed here for a week in mid-March, and we were very pleased with our unit and all the staff we met. We had a 2-bedroom lockout unit on the 2nd floor that was very spacious, comfortable and quiet. The only time we heard anyone else was if they were loud coming up the stairs or if they drug the patio chairs on their porch above ours. The staff were most helpful, no matter what. Checkin was very efficient, staff was friendly about loaning sports equipment, and maintenance issues were fixed in a hurry. We had a couple of very minor maintenance issues resulting from the previous guests (why would anyone steal the AA batteries from the heat/air thermostat?), and the maintenance man was there within 5 minutes and had it fixed fast.
You can be in the historic district of St Augustine in about 20 minutes, or easily take I-95 to other places. We don't find the resort location to be a problem, but you certainly can't walk to anything else.
Be aware that there is no restaurant at Grande VIllas, but you can visit the ones at the resort entrance, Caddyshack next door, or any of the good restaurants in St Augustine. Hey, you have a full kitchen, so grab some groceries at the Publix to cook yourself and save a lot of money! We're not golfers, so I can't comment on the courses except that they are beautifully maintained. Oh yeah, remember that this is a timeshare resort - not a hotel - so you don't have daily maid service. And, you can decline the Bluegreen sales presentation unless you are visiting on a preview deal. One of the pictures I submitted shows the apace shuttle launch on March 15, 2009 at dusk. It's about 100 miles from here to Kennedy Space Center, and you can see the shuttle liftoff, see the booster drop away and watch the shuttle disappear over the horizon about 10 minutes later.
