We found the Mad Hatter restaurant via the webTrip Advisor. We tried to have lunch there on our way to shelling on Bowman’s Beach (it is not open for lunch). So on our way back from Captiva, we stopped to shell at the Southern Beach on Captiva and walked in 30 mins before the restauranty opened and made a walk in reservation for 4 people. We had just spent the entire day on the beach and we were certainly not dressed for the ambiance of the Mad Hatter. They were gracious and sat us in the main dining room with a great view of the beach. I ordered the Foie Graos and it was absolutely mouth wateringly delicious! My oldest son ordered the special: two (2) colossal four (4) ounce shrimp, our youngest son had the crab cakes, my wife had a prime rib and I had the duck breast. Everyone was very well pleased. The shrimp presented beautifully and was perfectly cooked. The sauce for my Foie Graos and duck breast was fantastic. By far, the best Foie Graos I have ever had not in a grilled pate. The colossalus shrimp and crab cakes were both wonderful. My wife had ordered her steak medium rare, and it came medium well, and I ordered my duck medium rare and it came a bit rare, but was still fantastic. The staff was very personable, pleasant and made us feel right at home. They were most helpful and perfectly present when we needed anything. Before the Foie Graos came out, we had a rock crab leg in truffle oil. This was a first for our children who loved the truffle oil. It was also the first time either son shared the Foie Graos and certainly the biggest shrimp our sons have ever seen!
