I ended up staying here because it was one of the cheapest places I could find in Sarasota that claimed to have free high speed internet. Not only did they not have high speed internet, but the room was not very clean and the guy at the desk tried to tell me I had to pay more money if another person spent the night. The water ran next to us all night and the workers must have come the next morning because instead of sleeping in, we were awakened by sawing noises next store at 8:30 in the morning. The TV is about 19 inches and old, there were hairs in the bathroom (yuck). Don't bring the kids unless hanging out in a 1960s style concrete pool that was about 25 feet by ten sounds like fun. Every hotel and motel along the same trip advertised free high speed internet. too bad some of them didn't show up through the online hotels rental sights.

I booked 2 rooms for four nights at this motel that is right near the Ringling Museums. The cost for each room was $300 total including tax ($600 for the two rooms). That is about $75/day per room (the rates varied because we stayed over a weekend and the weekend rates were a little higher than regular weekday rates). The rooms were king-sized , non-smoking rooms with microwaves and refrigerators. While the property has seen better days, the owners have maintained it quite well and the rooms were spacious, newly painted and, above-all, clean. You can tell that the housekeeping staff works really hard to keep things ship shape. The continental breakfast offered free of charge was pretty skimpy but since we were saving so much on the rooms we went out for breakfast each day at Crager's restaurant a few miles north of the hotel. My only complaint was that check-in was very slow. We arrived kind of late, the lobby was locked, and we had to stand outside and check-in through a window and it was chilly! I realize that is for security reasons but it was still not very welcoming.

Stayed here in March 04 while watching the Reds in Spring Training. Clean rooms but they are a little dated. Housekeeping was effecient and desk service was fast. Hotel is only a mile away from the airport, 4-5 miles from downtown. Not the most luxorious place, really about what one would expect for only $50/night.
