“This Western really left the Best out of it.”

Best Miami Hotel

7 Mar 2007

This hotel has employees that either don't care or have not been trained. They have a pool but it was shut down by the city. They have a piano bar. Yes they had a room with a piano in it and there was a bar but there was no alcohol in it and nobody working it. We had a group using 6 rooms. One of the rooms the outside door did not lock. Anybody could walk in at any time. When this was reported to the supervisor they offered to take the $2.50 safe charge off the bill. Their attitude was less than caring.
One room had no hot water in the shower. One water had poor water pressure in the shower. I will never stay in this hotel again and may not stay in a Best Western Hotel again.

I am in the hotel business and this place IS Bad. The attitude of the staff at the Front Desk is awfull. I arrived and there were two trainees and one supervisor at the Reception Desk. I inquired for directions to drive to their parking lot. Their reply was not even cordial and as I would be annoying them for interrupt their personal CHIT CHAT time. No uniform for the trainees. Chewing gum and not an idea on how to greet a guest. Asked for a fax that was supposed to arrive and their answer was a rude: NO FAX HAS ARRIVED! The supervisor did not bother to tend to my requests or even made an attempt to assit me. He just watched!
The carpet througout the hotel is really filty, disgusting and awful. The rooms are ok in size but it certainly need a major re furbushing. There is a horrible smell throughout the hallways.Their staff needs a major change in attitude. My room was supposed to be a non smoking ;the first thing I noticed was that the room was impregnated with cigarette smoke odor. WOULD NOT STAY THERE AGAIN! Thanks but NO THANKS!!!

“Terrible!”

Hi,

I stayed at this hotel out of necessity for an interview at Ross University - it was a 2 minute walk from the interview and had a 'special' student rate for $89. I only recommend this hotel if you're a student staying for one night max.

The free shuttle from the airport is unreliable. When I called before making a reservation, I was told that I should call for the shuttle upon arrival and it would be dispatched and should arrive within 25 minutes.
Upon my arrival at the airportI called for dispatch and they said it would arrive in 35-40 minutes. 45 minutes later still no shuttle so I called and they said it would take another 20 minutes. So over one hour later I called again and they said it would take 20 more minutes. Finally the shuttle arrived 1.5 hours later.....and it's funny how on the way back there was absolutely no traffic in either direction and the journey only took 10-15 minutes......

Upon my departure, the shuttle was parked outside and the driver was relaxing. It was 1:30.......I asked for the shuttle to the airport. There was myself and another hotel guest who was also requesting a shuttle. We were told that the shuttle wouldn't leave again until 3:30.......meanwhile, the driver just sat around and relaxed and we had to sit in the lobby for two hours and missed getting on an earlier standby flight.

In the morning I had called ahead and asked for a room facing inside and not on facing the outside porch (to avoid ghekko's and other critters).....the lady had confirmed and even given me a room number. Upon check in I asked whether my room was facing inside and the clerk said 'no, nothing is available'. I then mentioned how i had confirmed a room in the morning and he sais that there was nothing he could do and his system didn't show anything. I complained again and he finally gave me a room on the inside.

The room inside is absolutely filthy. The bedsheets didn't look like they'd been washed. The carpet was dirty, the furniture very worn and the room had a damp feeling to it. The room was worse than a motel 8 room. Luckily I had packed an extra sheet and I suggest you do the same and sleep on that rather than directly on the bed coverings they provide.

Checkout is at 12pm......I requested a late checkout for 2pm.....they said 'no' it would be a $25 charge....i mean seriously, even the four seasons gives courteous late checkouts......and this hotel was far from overbooked! I then pointed out that I was a Diamond Gold Crown Club card holder....they said, thats only for points, you get no added privleges but i'll find out from my supervisor and call you back. 2 hours later and I still never got a call back.

So overall don't stay here unless you are attending a Ross University admissions interview...in which case bring your own sheet to sleep on and stay there for only one night after which you should check in elsewhere to enjoy the rest of miami.

Some reviewers seem to be confusing BW South Miami with BW South Beach. THIS hotel, South Miami, is nowhere near a beach - nowhere near anything, in fact. Seems to have been put down into an industrial area surrounded by highways & overpasses. Very quiet (we were there on a Saturday)but not a peaceful quiet, more the menacing type. My partner, who comes from a very tough city area himself, said the hairs on the back of his neck were standing up as we walked outside - and this was 3 in the afternoon. I take his warnings seriously, (it takes a lot to unnerve him) and we went back inside. The room was okay, very basic, bit dark with a small window overlooking a small pool. The only good point was the restaurant, Bernies, which filled up rapidly that night. Food was excellent! Shuttle to the Port has to be booked 24 hours before, many guests turned up unaware of this but the hotel rounded up another bus & driver so we all got there eventually. Wouldn't stay again, purely due to the area - not nice!

“THEY LIED”

Best Miami Hotel

My boyfriend and I stayed at the BEST WESTERN IN SOUTH MIAMI prior to leaving for our cruise. The hotel represented itself as being close to the Port of Miami and close to shopping and restaurants. This was not the case. Even though the hotel offered shuttle service to the port, they fail to tell you that they only go to port twice (11:30 am and 2:00 pm). So if you aren't lucky enough to catch the shuttle you have to spend $30 for a cab, which takes approximately 30mins. As for being close to shopping and restuarants, we didn't see any and we were told by a worker at the hotel that they would not recommend that we walk around the neighborhood on out own. It wasn't in the safest area. The hotel itself was so-so. I'm just glad we weren't there more than 1 night. This will definitely not be a repeat a stay. The hotel is older and is not appealing. You just don't feel safe. Stay somewhere else!
