I was apprehensive about this hotel when I read the other reviews, but since they were old reviews I called the hotel. A guy named John told me that the hotel was under new ownership and management and that they now offered what he called Deluxe rooms. The rate was great for a weekly rental, so I took a chance.

Wow, was I surprised. The hotel was set back off the highway and really clean. The deluxe room had a very comfy mattress, and nice towels. My husband had the best shower of his traveling career. Also discovered that they are part of Choice Hotels, the people that has the Sleep Inn and Comfort Suites. No wonder they have improved!

Most people who stay don't have a problem but be cautious as this is a place where people coming in for short-term construction type jobs stay and drug users go. Keep your valuables close, eyes open and avoid the crabby night manager. I cannot speak for the quality of cleanliness or amenities, only the types of customers they get and problems that are created from my experience of living in the area.

Ranks as the worst place I have stayed. Flight delayed and arrived at 2:06 am. Too late! They close the office at 2 am and no one to answer a bell located near the door. Notwithstanding that the room was prepaid for the week off to look for somewhere else to sleep.

Three hotels later, find alternate accommodation. Check in to Suburban later that day and explain the dilemma of the night before. The response is "Let us know on your way out and we will give a refund."

Off to the room. Spartan for sure. Moderately clean. Shake the silverfish out of the shower curtain. The bath towels ( there are no hand towels) are stained and the bath mat is worse. No maid service for a week. No beds made, no towel pickup and no new towels unless you go to front desk every day to get new ones. Odor in the room is a combination of must, stale smoke, and body odor.

Air conditioning unit in window is at headboard level between the two double beds. Have handled cleaner telephone handsets in payphone booths.

No shampoo. Soap upon request.

And that refund? At end of week no one had the authority to make it. Would have to go to head office for approval. We'll see.

And they don't open the office until 7 am.

I suspect they rent some of the rooms by the hour.

Wow what a business trip! Flight delays, car rental chaos. Thankfully, the staff at the hotel was there to welcome me back. I have stayed at this hotel before on business, but I have never been so glad to get to the room. As always, the room was clean and comfortable without all the excess frills that cost me money. I was in town for four days and really enjoyed having my morning coffee in my room. The staff could tell I was tired and handed me the key as soon as I walked in. No extra waiting in line. I had an afternoon off from meetings and they recommended a couple of great cafes downtown to go soak up the coastal breezes at! Great staff, nice hotel - made for a better trip!
