Location:
Great, especially if you live in the Bay Area.

Customer Service:
When we first pulled in to the campground office to check in, we were greeted by a very, very poor attitude driven Park Ranger named Tommy! A group of us camp twice a year, for several years now, and this was the worst welcome/introduction I have every encountered. I personally worked for the U.S. Forest Service in the past and I couldn't believe it. Either way, upon speaking to us like children and complaining that he shouldn't even be letting us check in b/c the individual that secured/paid for the reservations wasn't onsite yet, he gave us a parking permit and was done. He didn't even ask if we had any questions, or if we knew where we were going. He simply told us, NO ALCOHOL in the park and if we we're caught it would be $118 per can/bottle. I understand this is a family campground, but don't kid yourself if you think that people come camping and leave all booze behind. We weren't there to start a confrontation, so we respectfully told him we understood and that was the last time we saw a Ranger.

Once we arrived at our designated sites and our group filed in, everyone that had to deal with Tommy was put off from the beginning. There was another lady in the office checking people in and she had the right attitude and sounded very friendly/helpful.

I thought is was unique to the grounds that you had to pay $3/day for a camp fire conainer, which was nothing more than a metal tub. $20/deposit as well.

If you do go here, be very mindful of the mosquitos and sand fleas. I had never seen so many and no matter the type or how much spray you used, it was useless. Everyone in this group was completely covered in bites. This went for almost everyother group we spoke with as well.

Also be very mindful of the Racoons that were built like medium sized dogs. They didn't care you were there, no matter the time of day. They would climb up in the trees over the tents and just wait. We saw them try to get in to 2 different tents. Make it a point not to leave food out and you should be OK.

We visited the beach for a few hours and it was definitely worth it. Nice and clean with some of the nicest sand in the area. A few folks got some Kayaking in and really enjoyed the area as well.

Overall, we enjoyed our trip and each other's company, but the welcoming introduction and masses of fleas/mosquito's was a negative. I understand you camp outside, the bugs are out there, but never seen them like this. Too much stagnant water in the area.

The camp sites were small, but clean. Ours had some nice privacy, but others sites I saw were quite the opposite.

Enjoy, but if your looking to go let loose a little bit with music and drinks, this may not be the campground for you. Remember, it is a park that tells you no alcohol, and if they catch you, they may very well enforce it.

Empty beaches, beautiful soft sand, lots of wildlife and seashells. Great for long walks along the waters edge. Unspoilt and relaxing.

We spent the day exploring the park. It was really fun to go out on the pier and watch the fishermen. The dolphins would chase the fish after the fishermen hooked them. Got some really good pictures of the dolphins. Toured the fort. Not much to see. Walked the beach. Beautiful campground and nice big boat ramp.

Although the wind and waves from Hurricane Sandy kept the ferry from running, the kayaks from renting, and being able to just sit and enjoy the beautiful sandy beaches we still had a blast renting the bikes and riding around this amazing park. Can't wait for my next trip to the area and to be able to enjoy all the park has to offer. I was amazed that there were NO crowds and the main focus at this attraction is nature. We got some great photos - was very impressed with the clean campground - and wished we could have done the kayak trail. We will be back.

The beaches here were great and the Fort an interesting venue to visit and learn about Historical information about the Fort. It has a fishing pier with a bait house and a place to get a sandwich there. Picnic tables abound the area and there are grills to plan for small and large parties. My wife and I have been here many times and loved the day as we live in Tampa. Well worth the admission and trip! Well maintained
