We stayed one night. I wouldn't want to stay for a week in this place, but it was okay for the night. We had a room overlooking the pool. The hotel is right next to a Walgreens, and the restaurants and shopping area nearby is really nice.

The hallways were smelly, but the room was pretty clean. They served a free continental breakfast that was ok.

The drive to the beach is about a mile and a half. But the beach was great and had a good clean park area (grills, bathroom facilities, etc.).

Im in the area at least once a month for business and i wouldnt stay anywhere else. In a town with a limited supply of hotels this is by far the best overall deal. Right in the middle of Vero Beach the hotel is clean and the staff is wonderfully helpful. The internet is easily accessible and the hotel has just undergone a renovation. If you are looking for a consistantly good hotel for a good price this is the one.

Budget Inn north of there looked worse, Comfort Inn to the south near Chilis might be the best bet for that area.

Let me start out by saying, there are 2 Howard Johnsons in Vero Beach. This one is on Federal Highway (rt 1). Do not book at this motel. This motel should have stayed closed for hurricane damage repairs. The roof above our room was covered in a tarp and was leaking. The wall was bowed and mold and mildew. Had to keep the sliding glass door open all night to get fresh air in the room because of the odor. Went to the bathroom sink and was shocked to see an infestation of ants coming up through the drain! also, we booked another room which turned out to be a smoking room. Standing outside of the door, you could smell the cigarettes. The odor was so strong, we went to the front desk to ask for some neturalizing spray or another room. was told that it was my fault for booking a smoking room and that i should go to the market and buy some febreeze. I was seriously thinking about sleeping in my rent a car, but i have to say, the bed was comfortable!
