Our family of five stayed at the Hilton the week prior to Easter, and it had a nice family atmosphere, which we appreciated. Our first two nights were spent in a lower-floor room on the north side of the building. This room was small, had a small fridge, and a view of the reception hall roof, which had nothing to recommend itself. Because this portion of our stay was booked with Honor Points, we couldn't really do much about the room placement. However, we requested to be moved to a higher floor toward the beach side of the building for the remainder of our stay, and not only was this room larger, but the fridge was twice the size and the view was very pretty. I would recommend a room toward the beach on a higher floor to avoid a magnificent view of the tar roof and too much pool noise if you are on the south side of the building.
The pool was one of the few "large" pools I've seen at a hotel--long enough to swim laps if you are a swimmer. Our boys loved it! It also had a small fitness center, and there was a good running trail right across from the hotel. This was not a good running beach, as it pitched pretty heavily toward the water, so the trail was handy.
You will also want a rental car, as there is nothing within walking distance except the hotel restaurant, which was actually pretty good. If you are looking for good places to take the family, try the Key Lime House on the channel in Lantana. Our waiter was outstanding, and he brought out extra cornbread at the end of our meal so our sons could feed the catfish off the pier. We also tried Saitos, a Japanese hibatchi restaurant in City Place, and Stone Rock Pizza on Clematis Street; both were fun and had outdoor seating if desired.
For activities, Lion Country Safari Zoo was worth a visit to feed the giraffes, and we also went to a go kart/batting cage/rock climbing place in Boynton Beach whose name I can't think of offhand. The state park just north of the hotel was lovely, and our kids liked exploring the dunes and looking for shells.
Expect to pay for anything extra--that goes for the hotel and the area in general. Lots of valet parking, even at more casual restaurants. That's Palm Beach. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and adequate. Not a "resort", but definitely good for a family and the service was attentive.
