Stayed for one week from 3/22 to 3/29. We had decided to make a warm-weather getaway after being invited to a wedding in Palm Beach. Contacted the property directly after doing some price-shopping.

This is not a resort, but it's better than your typical hotel mostly because of it's location. The beach is right there! The service in the hotel and the restaurant was pretty attentive however they really need to replace the carpets throughout the hotel. Free parking for guests, $5 if you you use the valet but their is really no need for it. The restaurant we thought was very good. Again, it's not a 5 star resort but as far as breakfast and lunch goes the menu selection and quality of food was better than average. We enjoyed the view from our room, but it was an ocean-view room. All rooms facing the south had no balconies because of ongoing construction and the North facing rooms really didn't have a view (except of the neighboring hotel and the roof of the kitchen below.

All in all it served it's purpose. We went to get a little R&R and be close to the beach. We did have a rental car and like others have said, you will need one. Don't expect the resort services like spas or ammenities like that because it is not that type of place. If you need entertainment other than the ocean outside your front door than you probably need to look somewhere else and plan on spending more money.

Only other negative things were beyond the hotel's control. We just happened to stay during the week that "Spring Bling" was going on and it just created some unwanted interruptions with tv crews filming what i guess was celebrities on the property and on one particular afternoon you couldn't go in the water for a period of time because the migrating sharks had decided to chase the bait fish close to shore for a little snack. That event did add a little excitement to the trip as on more than one occasion we were able to see 6 foot sharks swimming within 15 feet of the shoreline!

“Nice pool--you will need a rental car”

Hilton Singer Island Oceanfront Resort

28 Mar 2008

Our family of five stayed at the Hilton the week prior to Easter, and it had a nice family atmosphere, which we appreciated. Our first two nights were spent in a lower-floor room on the north side of the building. This room was small, had a small fridge, and a view of the reception hall roof, which had nothing to recommend itself. Because this portion of our stay was booked with Honor Points, we couldn't really do much about the room placement. However, we requested to be moved to a higher floor toward the beach side of the building for the remainder of our stay, and not only was this room larger, but the fridge was twice the size and the view was very pretty. I would recommend a room toward the beach on a higher floor to avoid a magnificent view of the tar roof and too much pool noise if you are on the south side of the building.

The pool was one of the few "large" pools I've seen at a hotel--long enough to swim laps if you are a swimmer. Our boys loved it! It also had a small fitness center, and there was a good running trail right across from the hotel. This was not a good running beach, as it pitched pretty heavily toward the water, so the trail was handy.

You will also want a rental car, as there is nothing within walking distance except the hotel restaurant, which was actually pretty good. If you are looking for good places to take the family, try the Key Lime House on the channel in Lantana. Our waiter was outstanding, and he brought out extra cornbread at the end of our meal so our sons could feed the catfish off the pier. We also tried Saitos, a Japanese hibatchi restaurant in City Place, and Stone Rock Pizza on Clematis Street; both were fun and had outdoor seating if desired.

For activities, Lion Country Safari Zoo was worth a visit to feed the giraffes, and we also went to a go kart/batting cage/rock climbing place in Boynton Beach whose name I can't think of offhand. The state park just north of the hotel was lovely, and our kids liked exploring the dunes and looking for shells.

Expect to pay for anything extra--that goes for the hotel and the area in general. Lots of valet parking, even at more casual restaurants. That's Palm Beach. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and adequate. Not a "resort", but definitely good for a family and the service was attentive.

“Oh...the sounds of jackhammering!”

Hilton Singer Island Oceanfront Resort

28 Mar 2008

Are you familiar with the tv commercial where a couple is checking into a hotel and there is jackhammering in the background? That was our experience! From the moment that we stepped into our rooms, we heard the sound of drilling or jackhammering. (come to find out that they were working on the balconies, right above the pool area...nice and relaxing, huh?)
The pool area was okay, the pool was small, and not alot of chairs. The beach was nice though, although lots of washed up seaweed. The cabana's were nice, but pricey. $15 a chair. Altho, we were able to get some complimentary coupons because we complained of the jackhammering noise by the pool.
Whatever you do, DO NOT waste your money in the hotel restaurant. The breakfast buffet was okay, but the food otherwise was terrible!! The rooms were okay. Nice tv, a refrigerator, but no safe. The cleaning crew was not very good. We had to call down several times to have them clean our room. AND at one point had to ask them to vacuum our room! It was quite disgusting! The restaurant was very dirty too. We sat outside when we ate breakfast, and had to have them re-wipe our table, the floors were disgusting, food, litter etc. All, in all, I would not recommend this hotel. It was in a good location, altho, you must rent a car to get to any of the restaurants in the near by areas. The only good thing that I can say is that the beach was nice, and the view was great. Otherwise, food, cleaniness and service was below average.

“Room Cost and Beyond”

Hilton Singer Island Oceanfront Resort

24 Mar 2008

The Hilton Hotel was very deceiving. The website showed that all rooms had balconies, but most rooms had balconies that you could not sit out on. The north side hotel rooms all looked out onto a roof with exhaust and kitchen fans, which was quite unpleasant. The hotel advertises that all rooms have wireless Internet access, but they charge you $10 a day to use the Internet. The beach has chairs and cabanas that can be rented for $30 a day or $10 an hour, which was unexpected. Additionally, the pool area got very crowded. During our stay, there was construction on the balconies and therefore we heard drilling and hammering from 8am to 5pm. We were very surprised by all of the addition, hidden costs on this stay at the Hilton.

“What a dump”

My son and I stayed at the Hilton Singer Island for three nights. We were in town for the Cardinals spring training. This hotel is not worth the room rate. Our room (with two double beds) was terribly small. There is no safe in the room. The room was horribly dirty. So dirty, I actually went out and bought a container of Clorox wipes. This is not something I want to have to do when I'm in town for a baseball weekend. But, I'm glad I did. Tons of crud came off the bathroom counter. There was a pill of some sort on the floor of our room for our entire stay. It was never picked up or vacuumed up. The ceiling vent literally fell out of the ceiling when I opened the closet door. Both my son and I noticed that the beds felt sticky and sandy. I know that sounds disgusting, but I'm just telling you what we experienced. When we were in town, the West Palm Beach area was having unusually cold temperatures. We never could get the heat to properly function in our room. The control was difficult to operate. After a hard push, it kicked in and then operated at a volume so loud it was difficult to sleep. And then there's the paper thin walls. We could hear our "neighbor" so clearly we might as well have been in the same room with him. Our view was of a hotel under construction next door and a roof top. I would never recommend nor stay at this hotel again. One saving grace: the hotel restaurant, Coconuts on the Beach, was pretty good.
