“Excellent Value/Large Suites/Close to City Place”

Crowne Plaza West Palm Beach

10 Sep 2007

We booked the hotel thru Travel Zoo at a $69 rate inc $20 food & beverage credit for a 2 room suite. The property has just rec'd a $30 million + renovation & it shows. The suites were beautifully decorated & the beds were so so comfortable. Large pool area & the breakfast buffet was excellent. Downtown WPB is close by heading East on Belvedere & City Place is 10 minutes away. Palm Beach is appx. 15 minutes by car. Exellent location & value.

*Dont miss the Henry Flagler museum in Palm Beach. Worth the $15 admission price.

“Nice Hotel for Business Traveler, last minute weekends”

Crowne Plaza West Palm Beach

18 Jul 2007

This Crowne Plaza from the outside appears that it will be a dissapointment. However, when you enter the building, you are greeted with a new, urban look and feel. We had a small misdealing with our reservation, but the manager on duty corrected the sitaution and was a pleasure to work with. We had a one king, upper floor room with a nice view of downtown West Palm Beach, and could see the intercoastal waterway as well as the Atlantic Ocean from our room. Palm Beach International is on the other side of the building, but we were never disturbed by jet noise. The room wasnt huge, but spacious enough for what we needed for the stay. The Crowne Plaza beds are great. The rooms have free wireless, but you have to pay should you use a wired hookup. Doesnt make sense, but wasnt a factor either. Bathrooms are just ok. They could use a facelift (i.e. shower head, curtains, etc). Overall, nice stay at another Crowne Plaza. Wee neer had a bad experience at one!

I will start with three positives:
--The room (a small suite) was in perfect condition and well designed. The bathroom was plain and small, but OK.
--The hotel is convenient to the West Palm Beach Airport.
--When I discussed the problems below with the only person I met there who believed in service (a van driver), he was empathetic.

BUT
I waited 22 minutes for an airport pickup and in each of four calls was told "The van will be there in a minute." Finally, I took a cab. (The property is four minutes from the airport.) The hotel paid.

I was promised in writing that I would have complementary breakfasts, but the information never made it from the hotel's reservations agent to the hotel's computer. The desk team (the same one that told me "The van will be there in a minute") acted as if I had forged the computer generated reservation I received to give me a free breakfast and which I presented to the front desk. (They did give me one meal to make up for the van's delay.) The cost was not the point--the attitude was terrible.

The restaurant meals were better than I expected in this type of lodging, but minor refinements, like learning out to cut a melon into pieces without a rind,or not serving stale bread need to be improved on.

I forgot an electric razor in my room. I reported it missing. It took a week to get back to me after four international phone calls to the hotel. (Of course, they could not find my $140 razor.) I called them less than 18 hours after i checked out.

I sent a letter describing these problems to the hotel's manager as did the group that made the reservation, and I have not received a response.

In short--if all you need is a room, this may be fine. If you think that service should be a part of a hotel, try another property.

I stayed here for one night while having a meeting. The meeting went well, as the room was well organized and well-stocked with food and beverage.

The room was nice and exactly what you expected. The service was very very good. I was very impressed by the service all around. The pool was a little small, with a huge patio. Some nice tennis courts as well.

I would strongly reccommend!

“Really disinterested employees”

The rooms in this hotel are fairly new; color scheme a bit wild & dark for my taste.

My first stay was very bad - no hot water; no USA Today at my door; very musty lingering odor. For 2 nights of that week-long stay, there was a huge fan/dehumidifier right outside my door, running loudly all night.

The second stay was better in that we had hot water and the odor was gone. Light bulbs were missing from 2 lamps in my room this time and it took 3 calls over 2 days to get them replaced.

One might have been able to better tolerate some of these inconveniences if the hotel staff could even act like they were concerned. This disinterest starts at check-in where the staff barely looks up from their paperwork or PC. My first check-in was handled by someone who did not say one word to me.

Unfortunately I am stuck there due to a corporate travel policy; I hope the hotel's management reads these reviews.
