I've stayed here on occasion, maybe three times a year, on company business. I just returned from two days at the Hilton, and it was an experience consistent with the other stays. Check in is fast and easy. The rooms are clean, with new updated bedding and mattresses. The pool was clean and the temperature was perfect. There is a pool snack bar that serves sodas as well as alcoholic beverages. There is also a "pantry" in the lobby that sells assorted necessities, like aspirin, newpapers, cigarettes, sodas and salads and sandwiches if you don't feel like a big dinner.
I ate dinner at the inside club/bar both nights, and breakfast at the indoor restaurant both mornings. If you are a hamburger fan, you have to try their Veranda Burger. Ask for extra napkins if you do. Their burgers are some of the best I've ever had, and I've tried them all throughout the country. Breakfast includes a great buffet with plenty of choices. There is always an assortment of fruit, juices, breads and pastries, biscuits and gravy, potatoes, eggs, bacon and REAL breakfast sausages...not those nasty little ones you can get in a yellow box at the store.
On Sundays they have a champagne brunch as well. There is also a lake behind the hotel where it appears that you can waterski. The hotel is next to the airport, but due to noise abatement procedures, there are few takeoffs and landings after 9PM. You may hear airplane noise in the mornings, however, as this is when many airline flights depart. The rooms are soundproofed, so noise in minimal. One poster commented about the lack of ventilation due of the sealed windows. The air conditioning blows lots of cool air, so there is no need to open a window. The hotel is non-smoking and at check in you have to initial by an item that states you have been told this and will accept a charge if you smoke in the room, If your room smelled like cigarette smoke, then you should have told someone otherwise the management may think it is you who smoked!
It is true that unless you have a rental car, there is not much within walking distance. The hotel shuttle will take you to City Place, which is the local shopping district with boutique stores, a grocery store and a movie theatre.
I've also stayed at the Hampton and Hilton Garden Inn next to the Wet Palm Beach airport and I have to say that the Hilton is the best in terms of facilities, convenience, atmosphere and of course, the hamburgers.
