The Fairfield Inn Six Flags suffers primarily from the declining suburbs of Atlanta along the East and West corridors of Atlanta. With most of the clientele of the restaurants, shopping and hotels in the area, a person may feel overdressed or preppy in simply khaki shorts and a golf shirt..

As for the hotel, it is clean and is in decent shape. The rooms are standard Fairfield Inn quality with nothing particularly special. The pool area is small and indoor; the areas around the pool were clean and had ample seating. Towels were provided for guests to use.

Issues that arose dealt primarily with the front desk clerk who assigned us to a room already occupied; she apologized profusely and blamed it on the person working the desk before her shift. Later in the evening, my wife stopped at the desk to ask directions to restaurants in the area; the clerk was none too happy that her personal phone call was interrupted. Also, that evening, I witnessed the phones ringing off the hook at the front desk while the clerk chatted on her cell phone.

The room had a dehumidifier in it; however, when it was turned on, the A/C was never able to cool the room. Once we turned off the dehumidifier, the room cooled nicely. I am still scratching my head over this...oh well.

After spending the weekend at Disney in Florida, at the spur of the moment, my family and I decided to go to Six Flags over Atlanta. I found this hotel at the Six Flags over Atlanta website and booked it for 2 nights (because it's recommended by Six Flags and it was the cheapest). Pool area, lobby, breakfast, room, and staff were great. It's located near good restaurants, shops and Wal-Mart. Be careful that you don't pass the hotel because it's hidden between a Toyota car dealership and a Cracker Barrel. I recommend this hotel for singles and families.

Our family of 3 stayed here for 2 nights on 3/23/07 and 3/24/07. We had the king executive suite with sleeper sofa, microwave, fridge and desk. The room was very large with what seemed like a lot of vacant space that could have been used for an additional piece of furniture such as a dresser or chest. We thought having the dehumidifer was a little odd but maybe it helps some people with allergies. Our room was very clean and fresh as was the hotel in general. The bed was very comfortable and our room was quiet. We didn't use the pool but it looked like the typical small indoor pool. The breakfast was good but the dining area was very small. The food area was very cramped making it difficult for multiple people to be able to access without crowding or waiting. Sans the breakfast area problems we would have given this property a higher rating. For 20 bucks a night less than the nearby Springhill Suites we usually visit we would likely stay here again.

Mixed feelings about the Fairfield Inn

Boston
20 Oct 2006 | Trip type: Business, Solo travel

I stayed two nights at this hotel for business. While the stay was fine, there were a lot of little things that bothered me about it. I'll start with what I liked:

The room was clean and the bed was new and very comfortable. It was also very affordable; I feel I got a great value. They do have weekly "guest appreciation day" every Wednesday with homemade food in the evening. The staff were very friendly. There was always someone tending to the front door to open it for guests.

However:
I had booked an "executive" room that cost about $10 more than the base rate and was supposed to have a microwave and refridgerator. When I checked in they gave me a regular room, and I only noticed it because the rate was lower than I was expecting. I asked about it, and the desk clerk, who was always polite, first told me that he did not know what I was refering to, because I was given the correct rate. I pulled out my reservation, which he took into a back room and talked to someone, and came out to say that there were no "executive" rooms available. I did not push the point, but I was surprised that they not only did not honor the specific reservation, they both changed it and tried to slip it past me, and the manager that was consulted could not be bothered to apologize to me.

The hotel is incredibly hard to get to from the airport. You need to drive past it, past an intersection of a major highway, and find a way to make a U-turn on a busy street. When I asked the desk staff the best way to do this, they suggested I cut through a Toyota dealer parking lot; the lot was locked the entire time I was at the hotel.

Housekeeping was always in the halls! I got back from dinner at 8 PM and there were still housekeeper wagons in the hall. This was very strange to me. It's not a very large hotel; I could not figure this out.

  • Liked — The staff were friendly
  • Disliked — They did not honor the specific reservation I had
