I lived in Atlanta in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Downtown can be expensive and not that safe, Buckhead a little trendy and therefore pricey, so the other business satellite areas on the "outer ring" offer better lodging values.
I found the Atlanta Hilton Northeast to offer such a good value even though I find the whole Norcross and nearby Gwinnett County business areas to be unbelievably boring. You will need a rental car, hope it's not rush hour, and then you can bolt to in-town things to do. My weekend price was in the $70s and in June, so you can't argue with that.
The room was standard Hilton in its clean and tasteful appointments. The bed was comfortable but not like I've seen at Doubletree or Westins. The parking was available in abundance in manicured landscaped pods around the hotel tower. There was a nice indoor pool that I used. The staff was competent, nice and friendly, reflecting Atlanta's demographic shift from a more provincial regional area to a world-class city. This implies that the staff mirrors this diversity.
I can make no comments about food as I did NOT take any meals there.
If you either have to stay in Atlanta's "outer ring" business suburbs or happen upon an under $ 100 a night price for this hotel and have a rental car, by all means, go for it.
