I have returned to this hotel on a number of occasions and it just gets better. Admittedly it could not be described as 'Home Counties boutique' but for genuine comfort, good food, friendly banter in the bar, stunning (if very remote) location, and above all value I cannot think of anywhere else to beat it. The rooms do vary - so ask when you book, but even the standard rooms justify the exceptionally reasonable cost.
The local area must be one of the premiere locations for walking, wildlife, coastal scenery, photography and brown trout fishing in the UK and the Hotel makes an ideal base. Eating the home-cooked food in the dining room overlooking Loch Drumbeg as the sun goes down over the hills in the evening before repairing to the bar for a guest ale or a 'wee dram' (from a good selection) is the icing on the cake.
