Yes, a river room is A NICE IDEA, but this hotel has ZERO upgrades. I'm surprised there weren't shared baths! The beds were HORRIBLE and the pillows could not have cost more than $3.00 at the local HARDWARE store. :( The problem with hotels in Salmon, ID is that there are very few, so there is very little competition. NO ONE and I mean NO ONE goes out of their way to serve the customer. :( Would absolutely not recommend this dingy, ancient motel. It is NOT worth the near $100 per night. What's worse? The front desk let me in my spouse's room without asking for ID. This means ANYONE can be and will be given access to your room. Lock your stuff down. :(

A real surprise. Clean, plenty of towels, soap, etc. Good facilities - vending machines and free ice in lobby, friendly staff and a decent breakfast. Highly recommended.

We came into Salmon not expecting much, but the Stagecoach was a great place to visit at a decent price!
Our room overlooked the river, had a nice balcony, was mere steps away from the swimming pool, and the breakfast was the best continental breakfast we had on our whole trip.
The staff too were very professional.
The rooms were heavily dated (think circa 1973), but it was all very clean and the datedness didn't bother us at all. It seemed like a well-maintained place. Would definitely stay again.
This is a 100-room hotel with a little more than half of the rooms just steps away from the Salmon River. The rooms are comfortable but dated i.e. carved shag carpet and fake bricks on two walls. There is no hotel restaurant, but coffee and Danish are offered to hotel guests for free each morning. It would be nice if they could offer milk for the kids. Mine don't care for canned juice.
On the downside, the front desk called me one night at 10:15pm to see if I was checking out the next day. I was sound asleep and the phone was not by the bed, but across the room on the dresser. Once I answered and discovered it was NOT a family emergency, then I was furious. Someone had apparently messed up many of the reservations and the front desk was working to clear things up while I slept. Nobody at the hotel was apologetic about this that night or the next morning, but rather took the attitude that if they had mistakenly checked me out a day early, then I WOULD have had something to grouse about it.
I do not recall another instance in my life where a hotel or restaurant was so clearly in the wrong and then compounded things by not responding appropriately to my complaints. A snub doesn't cut it. A heartfelt apology would have been accepted graciously.
