This was a great hotel. Full service for a reasonable price ($249/night for me).
The room was very nice. I had a 42" LCD in the room which also had a dock/speakers for my iPod. They also had a nice little box that you could use to hook other components to the television if you had brought them.
Be sure to sign up for the Fairmont President's Club before you go, even if you don't stay at a Fairmont often. It's free to sign up, but it will allow you to make local and toll-free calls from your room for free (there is normally a charge) and use the internet for free, which is normally around $16 for a 24-hour period.
The only thing I had an issue with was that they did not have an airport shuttle, and should you drive your own car, parking is $49/night.
Otherwise, I really liked the place, and it was convenient to most everything that downtown Chicago had to offer. Millennium Park is directly across the street, as is a place to rent bicycles and Segways. Navy Pier is a short walk, as well as the Sears Tower.
Depending on the side of the building and floor you may even be able to see Lake Michigan. I was on the 30th floor on the east side of the building and could.
If you are on the North or West side of the building, you may be able to see the Navy Pier fireworks from your room, which are every Wednesday and Saturday evenings (I believe, maybe Sunday) between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
