We stayed at the Felix in March of 2012 after booking the room through Priceline. Immediately after booking the room I called the Felix to request a room with two beds as I have always done when booking through Priceline. (Priceline only guarantees a room with a single queen bed) I had never had a problem until this time. They told me that they would note the request but explained my chances were not good as it goes by availability. I went online and did some research and learned that this has been an ongoing issue with the Felix for guests who book through Priceline.
This was a problem as we have two kids and an infant. Sure enough, we could only get a room with a single bed. It was a challenging stay to stay the least.
But, I want to be fair. Technically, the Felix did nothing wrong. The were pleasant when I dealt with them and did satisfy what they were obligated to do. However, my experience is that other hotels made more of an effort to accommodate us.
Being that this is an ongoing problem and they have taken some hits on review sites over this issue, I would suggest to the Felix to offer more two-bed rooms (you could even get away with saying we could upgrade you to a two-bed room for $10. more per night) or discontinue using Priceline to avoid unhappy guests.
As far as the rooms, yes, they are small, but they are advertised as a Boutique Hotel. There is no dresser, and the only drawer space are the drawers in the bed frame.
Otherwise, it is a solid, well-kept 4-star hotel in a great location with a friendly staff.
The room situation definitely dampered our stay. (The dad sleeping on the floor for four nights will do that. There was no room for a cot)
In fact, my true rating would have been three stars. The fourth star was earned by the valet gentleman we had (His name was Serge and Sarge. Please pass on our thanks. We were the ones with the roof luggage rack he stored for us)
It was also earned by housekeeping which did a great job.
Outside of the Priceline issue, I would recommend this hotel to those visiting the great city of Chicago.
