i didnt spend much time here, i was out during the day, its a hostel and so dont expect things like the plaza would offer, all in all worth the dosh i spent and the staff were nice!

This was a great place to stay. Everybody was really nice and helpful. The free breakfast was your typical free breakfast. It is located right in the Greek part of the city and there are lots of Greek restaurants to eat at. It was a very nice and safe area. The best hostel in Chicago. It's a little higher in price for a hostel but I feel it was all worth the money and they are very close to everything. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. The only thing that I would have to say negatively are the rooms could have been a little cleaner. Our room was a little dusty and the floors could have been a little cleaner. The sheets and towels were clean. My husband and I are going to plan to stay here again.

This hostel was absolutely fine. If you are looking for a luxury hotel you are in the wrong place...the rooms are small (we had a private double) with a view of a brick wall and no carpet but spotlessly clean. Shared bathroom was always spotlessly clean and fresh. Location was the best thing....very central and a nice area in Greektown. About 15 minutes walk to the centre of Chicago. Very close to the Sears Tower. If you are flying into OHare get the train (blue line I think) to UIC Halsted and the hostel is just up the road. Again I must stress that this is a hostel, not a hotel, so for romance and luxury go elsewhere but for a cheap and cheerful base to explore chicago you couldn't do better.

The Parthenon is a student crash-pad and, whilst the students know how to behave themselves, the management does NOT, except for the proprietress who allowed me to use her personal e-mail facility and provided me with a fan, both of these in the absence of the internet facility and air-conditioning that were advertised.

Reception is gummed up by an offensive paterfamilas-type who obviously has more shares in the place than interest in his guests. Also, a very reasonable continental breakfast is spoiled by the looming presence of a sour-faced male proprietor who constantly hovers and makes a point of telling guests they're doing everything wrong.

Avoid this dump if at all possible, folks! You deserve better.
