Had a pre-theater dinner recently at Catch 35, and everything was superb. My dinner was very fresh and well-prepared, and the service was prompt and unobtrusive. I would certainly dine there again.

Before posting, I read some other reviews. I had just some comments for them.

The person that said OK to the manager and complains to the coat Clerk... They are usually lowest paid people that know nothing except for coats. So, those should be the people you complain to LAST.

About the person, who complained of the soft shell crabs. Although I do share his disappointment, since he loves the softshell crabs, I MUST mention one thing. If he or anyone visiting the restaurant gives attention, although the restaurant is very high level, the menu is 1 LIST OF PAPER... WHY?

That is because they print menus twice a day. Each day they get 2 deliveries, and depending on what they get, that is what they cook, and print on the menu. So, it WAS out of season, and they did not get a chance to update their menus...

I go there at least once a month. And always get the same thing. Fried Calamari, that is the best anyone makes anywhere... And the CHILEAN SEA BASS! WOW!

And one point, it is a year or so, that Catch35 has opened the second restaurant, in Naperville.

I would say, go, and enjoy.

My husband and I were in Chicago for the marathon, and wanted to try a seafood restaurant. We were very impressed with Catch 35 and will definitely be coming back. The service was excellent, the ambiance was great (piano playing in background while waiting at the bar), and food & presentation were wonderful. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Our visit in January '05 before going to the theater was shocking, given their reputation. Food was flavorful, service was adequate. But the lobster and shrimp with the ravioli were both tough. When the waiter AND the hotess asked how things were, I replied "OK" in a disappointing tone. Neither cared enough to ask why I wouldn't rate it better. I asked if the owners were local, and the hostess was unsure. When I did express my specific concerns, the coat check assistant said, "Well, you can't please everybody." Sounds like serious morale problems here. I have vowed to tell the hundreds of people I know who go to Chicago for trade shows not to expect a pleasing experience at Catch 35.
