Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.
If you have submitted a review for a holiday rental property, we may also ask that you provide us with proof of your stay to ensure that your review is attached to the correct rental property.

Mr
Lovely apartment in a lovely little village, with very easy access to the mountains. All the equipment you need, well maintained and with first class help at hand in the unlikely event that something goes wrong. I have stayed on 3 separate occasions and very much look forward to the next.

Absolutely stunning
We drove for 15 hours to reach Villaroger arriving unprepared for such magnificent scenery. Absolutely stunning. The chalet is well fitted out with everything we needed and the dining table on the balcony was the perfect spot for dinner after enjoying hiking each day. The treks can suit everyone and vary from easy to extreme dependent on personal fitness. The weather was perfect at 27 degrees Celsius each day and Deidre the manager is just a delight with additional talent as a brilliant masseuse. Another option is take the train to Bourg Saint Maurice. The wildflowers, the gorgeous shops in the village and the wonderful french wines made this the perfect summer holiday.

We had excellent hiolidays in the chalet
Staying with 3 teenagers we had enough room for everyone and chalet was great base for trips to the area. It was well equipped so we lacked nothing. Would recommend it for anyone. Deirdre (the manager) was a real star - she had lots of advice and suggestions that helped us make most of our time in Alps. Beware the restaurant next door unless you are fan of French cuisine (i.e. raw meet) :) it is quite pricey too.

The best ski holiday I have ever had.
I have never written a review before but felt the need this time. My husband and I had a fantastic week staying at Villaroger in March of this year. The weather was absolutely perfect, clear blue skies but cold enough to keep the snow. The apartment is very well kitted out with only a short walk to the chair lift. The village is only small but still has a flavour of France about it with very friendly helpful neighbours and locals who are always on hand to give you advice and tips. The apartment is very comfortable with an en suite to each bedroom. I would thoroughly recommend anyone to this area and in particular to consider staying at this apartment.

Excellent apartment - high quality, well equipped and great location
We rented the apartment for a week's skiing holiday this February half term. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The property is of a high standard and had absolutely everything we needed. It was a very short walk to the lift each morning, and there was never a queue - despite being peak season. Then we could ski back virtually to the door in the evening. Communication with the owner before our visit was excellent, and when we arrived we were met by Deirdre (who lives just upstairs) who showed us around, was very friendly, and gave us some excellent advice about the locality.

Lovely chalet in a beautiful area - a wonderful base!
We stayed in this chalet for a Summer walking holiday and would highly recommend it to others if you enjoy walking in the Alps or enjoy mountain biking. It was very well equipped with everything we could possibly need and is based in the lovely village of Le Pre. We much prefer smaller villages with more character to huge tourist areas such as the Arc resorts. You do need a car if you are staying here but it is a fantastic base for the surrounding area. We found it did not take long to drive into the Vanoise National Park where we had some super walks or to places such as Val D'Isere and Tignes or to the Arc resorts. It also did not take too long to drive over the Petite St Bernard Pass into Italy and to Cormet de Roseland. We found it to be a super place to stay to explore the beautiful area of the Tarentaise. If you like mountain biking there is a fantastic bike park both at the Arcs and in the Tignes and Val D'Isere region. The latter of which is totally free in the Summer months (you can get cable car passes for walkers and mountain bikers for free!) We all enjoyed using them to start some walks! The lifts in the Arcs region do cost but you can buy a day or weekly pass which are quite good value! A trip to the Augille Rouge is definitely worth it as you can get some stunning views of Mont Blanc and a trip on the Funicular from Arc 1600 to Bourg St Maurice is also well recommended (especially sitting behind the driver on the way down as it is quite an amazing ride!) It was lovely after a long days walk to arrive back at our accommodation which felt very homely and relaxing. Our boys enjoyed the fact that there was table tennis that they could play outside - this was a real bonus for them! We have had a fantastic holiday and would highly recommend it to anyone considering a Summer visit to the Alps.

Le Pre - a hidden gem...
We booked ski hire on line (saving 50%) and picked everything up from Intersport (next to the supermarket) in Bourg st Maurice on the way to Le Pre. There is no ski-school in Villa Roger so we booked lessons for the kids in Arc 1950 (11:00-14:30) which worked well for us... Le Pre is a gem. Nestled at the foot of the Aguile Rouge, the north facing slopes stayed in perfect condition throughout our stay. The run back from Arcs 2000 can be skied by "blue skiers" or for the more adventurous try the classic blacks and reds of the 2000m vertical Aguile Rouge... We found the chalet to be perfect for a family of four, with two good sized en-suite bedrooms and additional sleeping space in the lounge if required. The lounge is a good size with a table which easily seats eight adults, and a nice kitchen which had everything we needed for cooking supper and breakfast... In the Summer there's an outside covered terrace area with a mountain view and comfy seating... Le Pre is a small quiet working village, with a 50/50 split between locals and tourists... There's a couple of bars on the slopes on the way down for some Après Ski, and two restaurants for lunch or supper. We ate in La Ferme which is great for the quintessential pastis, followed by the house speciality fully-loaded omelette... Parfait..! We loved our week in Le Pre and will definitely be coming back, with skis, mountain bikes and road bikes...

Away from it all
The French Alps are world-famous for skiing and have hosted the Winter Olympics on three occasions, but an out-of-season Autumn break is well worth considering. Val d'Isère is all but closed, yet for those requiring an away-from-it-all few days the area offers attractions quite different from the skiing and night-life of the winter. The fresh air and changing colours of the trees are particularly attractive and there are opportunities for healthy open-air exercise in temperatures that still reflect the departing summer. A local early October activity is the 'démontagne' (or transhumance) when the farmers move their cattle - complete with huge, very audible cow-bells - from summer to winter pastures. Otherwise, not a lot is happening, though the nearby village of Ste Foie Tarentaise has the basics in the form of a post office, small hotel, restaurant and an 'alimentation'. So there's a choice of eating out or self-catering in a very clean and comfortable apartment with a magnificently equipped kitchen, a spacious lounge/dining area, a couple of double bedrooms, both with en suite facilities and a balcony permitting al fresco dining in very pleasant weather.

Great apartment in lovely unspoilt village with easy access to brilliant skiing
The apartment is newly built within an old large chalet which now comprises five apartments. It is very comfortable with all facilities including dish washer and washing machine. The two bedrooms are a good size both with twin beds and the lounge area has a bed settee. There is plenty of hot water, two bathrooms and heating works well so easy to dry clothing. There are about six steps up to the front door next to the outside balcony/seating area so wouldn't be suitable for those who struggle with steps. Le Pre village is largely unspoilt with just a pub which does good lunches and dinner on request. The ski lifts are a few minutes walk and you can virtually ski back to the front door. A car is needed for shopping but nothing else unless you want to venture further a field in the evenings. The village is on the edge of Les Arc Paradiski with direct access to a huge variety of runs and we had some brilliant skiing particularly close to the village on fresh snow before the rest of the area opened up. We will be definitely be back for more!

Very well-functioning apartment in a picturesque small village right by the huge ski resort of Les Arcs
- Excellent apartment with all what you need for a ski holiday. - Ski-in and ski-out from the apartment. Possible to ski back for lunch for example. - Small quiet village with a nice bar and restaurant for after-skis etc.
