Not being a "boater" but having rented boats from other renters with not a single incident someone could not pay enough attention they should have paid to the "lecture" about the propeller damage the renters at JET FUNN would give them before signing the papers. They would have a "damaged" propeller on display with price tags ranging from $40 to $240. What they would call unrepairable would seem repairable with a hammer in a matter of 2 to 3 minutes

After finally letting a customer to the boat they would show them around. The propeller would be perfectly painted in black as if it was just installed. If you joked that the center nut color did not match, the joke would not be appreciated by the "stuff" member.

We were very careful about following the map, did not run into anything while using the boat as far as we were able to tell, and still after we returned back they claimed that the propeller sustained an "unrepairable damage" and needed to be replaced.

They charged us extra $165 for the "damaged" propeller. Interestingly enough, quick search on the Internet showed that the same or similar propeller could be bought anywhere from $50 to $90.

We rented a tube from them for $32, it appeared that we were supposed to BUY a rope from them for $15. As a result: 4 hours rental -- $280 + tube -- $47 + gas -- $60 + "damaged" propeller -- $165 costed us $552.

The absolute highest we paid before on the same lake was $360 with gas, and we thought it was high... Think twice before renting from JET FUNN.

I read all these posts claiming about their horrible service, rudeness, and prop damage issues. Well i went to them anyways. And I just wanted to come back on here and let everyone know that they are exactly right. Avoid jet funn at all costs.

we recently rented a dock boat from them, they told us to check the boat for damage, beside the spots where it already is and is marked with yellow marker. they say, oh, by the way, check the prop. Like people that don't do this on a regular basis, would know that it means the "propeller".
Upon returning, they tell you, like they do EVERYONE else...that the prop is damaged and it costs between 50-150 to replace it. They will not show you your prop...why would they. They charged us $90 for prop damage since it was "repairable"....and I highly doubt that they repaired anything, and just stuck it back on the boat for the next sucker to be charged. They charged us another $100 for gas...which they didn't mention when we got on the boat.

Then they tried charging us for a life jacket which they claimed wasn't on board.....even though we were all wearing them when we docked. One of the attendents popped his head in and rudely remarked that our jacket flew off and one of the jet skiis brought it in. Since everything is a MESS at this place, turns out that they were looking at the wrong boat...we were A the boat that lost a jacket was C. instead of appologising the attendant just walked out saying, I don't care. Had we not put up a stink, they would have charged us for that too.

SCAMMERS! everyone that returned had prop damage.....a bit suspicious in my eyes. the ppl working there are rude and start swearing and yelling at you when you try to argue with them

HORRIBLE business practices, horrible customer service. I urge all of you to stay away from these scammers. The boat rental seems cheap at first, but it WILL come at a price

BEWARE OF JET FUNN!
Anyone interested in renting jet skis, pontoon boats or especially power boats should stay away from this rental agency. Located in Fox Lake, IL on the chain of lakes area, this place is expensive in the beginning and even moreso when you return your boat. Basically, they claim you have some "prop damage" which is chargeable by between $35 to over $150. I've formally complained to the Better Business Bureau and have found out on it and other websites such as CitySearch that there've been numerous customer compllaints on this issue.
Also, they tell you they'll charge for gas fill up upon your return but don't tell you they charge between 90 cents and a dollar more per gallon than market price (gas station down the street was $3.00 per gallon and we were charged $3.95 per gallon).
Stay away.
