Take it from the Reagans, owners of a B&B themselves...the Aldrich Guest House is a very fine lodging establishment indeed. My husband and I were given the grand tour of Jim & Marie's wonderful B&B, and what a delightful property. Jim has very green thumb (a good thing) and attends to the exquisite grounds. Certainly the most talented chefs would have a challenge keeping up with Marie! My husband, the cookie expert, devoured more than his share of Marie's delicious cookies and polished off her tasty lemonade. Guest rooms and common areas are tastefully decorated with comfort in mind. The location is on a quiet street in close proximity to Grant's Home, with a beautiful park next door. Civil War enthusiasts would be interested to know that Grant and Lincoln spent time in this historic Galena home and on the grounds. The property is magnificent, and a perfect choice when visiting Galena. You can't go wrong chosing Aldrich Guest House, where hospitality is number one. It was definitely our loss, that we were just passing through and were not able to stay in August 2005, when we visited with Jim & Marie. We plan to stay at the Aldrich when we have a couple days free, maybe during our early spring season.
