I was very dissapointed to discover that this spa which was written up as being in the top 10 for spa's, is in desperate need of some major renovating. The facility is located on a beautiful lake surrounded by corn fields which was no problem at all to me and my friends, but it was the little things that this spa seemed to lack, such as having comfortable outside seating. THere are no cushions to sit on outside, even the lounge chairs on the sun deck didn't have cushions, the pool was dirty and slimy with mold on it's tiles, the carpet in certain areas needs to be replaced, the rooms are small and have just basic furnishings with hard twin mattresses and very firm pillows, the bathrooms are so tiny that only one person can be in there at a time. The food is good, lacks a little flavor, and we heard that the spa was changing how they do there meals. Currently you are able to add food to the current menu for lunch or dinner, but now they are going to cut back so only at certain times would you be able to add things in addition to your food such as a potato, cottage cheese, or a side salad. I think the spa classes are good for someone who has little to no experience with exercise classes and weight training. All the classes seem to be instructional which was very disappointing to me and my friends. They were very boring to us and did not provide us with much of a work out. You also have to be careful about who you choose to do your massages and facials. Not all of the technicians are good. It's a good idea to ask around amongst the other guests who they recommend, because if you ask an employee they will tell you they are all the best. Anna in particular who gives facials has a terrible attitude and lacks skills. Many guests complained about her during the week I was up and the front desk said it must be because she is under the weather. My friend who had her said she was coughing in her face and had a bad attitude and didn't feel like she knew what she was doing. Why then would you have a employee who is under the weather work on healthy people, especially at a place that promotes wellness. The water smells like eggs and the smell of the whole facility is like a camp. You can tell that the owners of this establishment have not put any of there profits back into the place. You must know that in the evenings when you have read all of your magazines that you have brought with you and you have done all of your workout for the day and there are about 5-10 people sitting in there living room area excited to turn on a local channel on there big TV and to discover that the spa doesn't pay the extra amount to get the local channels (2,5,7,or 9) on the dish. This was extremely upsetting, considering this is not a cheap place to stay at. They have not updated there movie selections for the VCR in probably 5-8 years. And at night there is nothing to do after 7:00p.m. All the staff is gone and you are in the middle of nowhere. There are much better spas out there to choose from.
