We stayed in a cute little cabin at White Pines Inn in the White Pines Forest State Park. We were there 3 days and could have stayed longer. The children thought the cabin and the park were awesome. Just a great place for a family vacation! We thought it was great fun to drive our mini van over the fords. Roasting marshmallows at night at a fire ring was also great fun. The park is out in the country among corn fields. Nearby in Grand Detour, the John Deere historical site is not to be missed....a great tour for only $3 for adults!
We had two meals at the lodge restaurant and both times was excellent. The Sun BBQ served family style is superb....great ribs....so much food and you are allowed to take home leftovers. I had just wished we had a bigger frig in our room or brought a cooler. We did take home chicken tho. We also enjoyed a great breakfast buffet. It probably was the best breakfast buffet I'd ever eaten....everything was just freshly made and so many wonderful choices!
All in all we had a wonderful time. It was our first visit but certainly will not be our last. I highly recommend it to people of all ages!
