I'm a big fan of the Starwaood brand of properties and had a reservation to stay at the Westin for this trip and I have stayed there in the past. A friend recommended this hotel and the rate was significantly lower than the Westin, so I decided to try it.

The good - Cheap!, The hotel is brand new and very clean. Free shuttle service, to Conv. Center, train and restaurants, convenient breakfast available, Free Wi-Fi (when it works)

The bad - I was not a fan of the overall "hip and modern" feel of the rooms. The lack of a closet was kind of a pain for a three day stay. I was surprised that while there is a flat screen tv, and a box to connect your computer to it, there is no clock radio, or iPod dock. They advertise free water in the room, but after I drank my bottle on teh first night, it was never replaced.

Lastly, when I received my bill the last morning, I saw that I was overcharged by more than $400! When I called to get it fixed, I was told I would receive a call back in 15 minutes, I never did. It was a huge hassle to get it resolved since it took them several tries to get it right.

Overall, I would recommend it for a short stay. But anything longer than two days or so, stay at the Westin.

This hotel is the BOMB!!! They're about 2 yrs old and in a quiet place right outside of Chicago. A friend and I drove from Washington, DC to Chicago for the 4th of July weekend and were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Aloft hotel. We were greeted with their signature scent and the aesthetics were absolute eye candy. The room looked exactly like the picture and was very spacious. All of the staff were friendly and willing to help with any and everything. The shuttle to the Metra system was convenient and they picked us up when we called them every time. I suggest if you are heading to Chicago on a budget you should definitely check this hotel out.

I enjoyed my stay, but the rooms were very small. Would recommend if you are just flying through.

After having an awesome stay at the aloft PDX, we checked into the aloft ORD as we had an early morning flight out of ORD and we wanted a nice relaxing night. Upon our arrival, our driver had a problem finding the entrance to the hotel (there is still a bit of construction around the area) and we went "off road" down a dirt embankment to come around to the front. Improved signage would be helpful.
The room was clean but the bed had been made in a way that the sheets kept sliding off the corners of the bed all night so that we were sleeping on the bare mattress which was disconcerting and uncomfortable. There appeared to be no fitted sheet and the sheet was not tucked in properly. The shower also leaked through the gap in the door frame (the seal strip was only about 5 inches long and didn't go all the way down the length of the door) causing water on the tile outside the shower.
The check in and check out process was easy though the staff were pretty indifferent and unsmiling. They appeared very bored. This was a direct contrast to how the guests were greeted in PDX with a bright, "Aloha!" They did arrange a shuttle bus to a nearby brew pub for dinner and that went smoothly and was a nice touch. The saving grace for our evening was the attention and attitude of the bartender in the lounge who served us while we played pool She was fun and seemed interested.
Also, we played the corn hole game in the evening and it was really whipped and the beanbags needed to be replaced. If you are going to offer games, make sure they are in good condition and useable.
All in all, we will still continue to stay at this brand and hopefully these areas will be tuned up in the future.
