I booked a deluxe king room for a week. Nice room for only $100.00 a night in the Chicago area. I am on the Starwood preferred floor. The room has all updated ammenities. Very nice tiled and painted bathroom. Nice decorations. Definitely no mold issues like others have reported. Large screen TV, but not a lot of channels. Fridge, but no microwave, although there is a microwave down stairs next to vending. I don't like microwaves in the room, anyway. When I passed the vending area last night, a lady was warming up some Indian food that made me gag!
When I first arrived, the hallways smelled damp and sweaty, almost like a gym. I don't know why hotels can't dehumidify and circulate the air in their hallways. It's a common complaint I have at many hotels. I almost walked out before I got to my room.
The window are filthy, but it is March. I hope they clean them soon. I wanted to watch the planes take off from O' Hare, but the patio door won't open and the windows are so dirty I can't see clearly out of them.
General complaint: I stay multiple nights for business at many motels, and don't know why the maids don't replenish supplies correctly. The motel offers free bottled water and there was one when I arrived, but the past few days the maid hasn't left another. Don't I pay the same amount each nite???
Same with the coffee and tea. There is a 4-cup coffee maker. The first night there were two 1-cup coffee packets (reg and decaf) and 2 tea bags.
(I tried to put both packets in the 4-cup maker and put in only 3 cups of water, but the coffee tasted watered down, anyway. How am I supposed to use a tiny 1-cup packet in a 4-cup coffee maker???)
The second night the maid didn't leave a bottle of water, didn't leave any tea and left only 2 1-cup decaf coffees. I exchanded the 2 decaf coffees at the front desk, but they didn't have any bottled water there. (I really can taste the clorine in the bottled water, so I stopped at a store and bought a gallon of water...)
They have nice Caswwell-Massey toiletries here. Ironically, the maid has been throwing out the shampoo and conditioner I leave in the shower every day and replacing them with new ones. I would prefer that she leave the toiletries but replenish the bottled water, tea and coffee correctly...
Apparently there isn't any way to shut off the air conditioner/heater at night. I usually do that because it wakes me up when these noisy units kick in. The girl at the front desk said I have one of the older thermostats that does not allow that.
The high-speed internet has been good so far.
I will probably stay here again.
