“Extreamly Dirty, Bad Food, Inconsiderate Staff, Poor Excuse For A Hotel”

The International Order of Rainbow for Girls was booked into this extreamly poor excuse of a hotel for Indiana Grand Assembly. Things dissapeared from our room. The management was contacted & denied their staff would remove items not belonging to the hotel. I fell in the room. Again the management was contacted. Management said someone would contact me to make a report. No one contacted me about a report. I had to pay for my Dr. visit, x-rays & treatment. A diamond bracelet was broken in the fall. The hotel refused to pay for the repair. Food was bad. Our stay was to be all inclusive. We were charged for breakfast. The carpet was so filthy, you didn't want to get your shoes dirty walking on it. I don't understand how the hotel can stay in business. Our stay was after the remodeling & updating. If that was an improvement, the hotel needs to be permantely closed! Unfortunately Indiana Rainbow Grand Assembly is scheduled to stay there in 2008.

You will have to self park your car in the parking garage across the street from the hotel. There is a walkway from the parking garage to the hotel. The carpet in the walkway is very stained & needs to be replaced. You will have to walk your luggage down two flights of stairs to get into the hotel from the walkway & you will have to get your luggage back up those two flights of stairs when you leave.
The lobby is ok but nothing fancy. The front desk people were not very helpful at all. There was a young kid there when we asked for suggestions for dinner. He told us to go to the casino & had no idea where else to send us. We ended up using our Onstar to find a restaurant.
There is a lobby bar which is small but nice. The bartender there on Friday night was very friendly & the drinks were reasonably priced. They had a piano player there on Saturday night. There is a club in this hotel as well. It was dirty, the bartender was not friendly at all. It was also VERY smoky.

All of the hallways that I went down in this hotel has old stained up carpet. The ceilings throughout the hotel are very low. It was like walking through a tunnel instead of a hallway.
The elevators are very very tiny & take forever.

Now to the room. I reserved a deluxe king room & when we walked into our room it was two double beds. We had to go back to the lobby & get moved to the correct room. The lady tried to argue with me that we had NOT reserved a king room. Fortunately I had my confirmation on hand from when I reserved the room on the hotel website.
The king room was not good at all. There was mildew in the bathtub. The shower head was horrible. The bathroom was very very tiny.
The room had a weird smell in it . The windows fogged up both mornings so we could not even see outside. There was a huge mold area on the ceiling right next to the window. The lamps in the room both had rust on them & once again the carpet was old and should have been replaced a long time ago. The bed was comfortable & that is only good thing I can think of.

Also, stay away from the full breakfast buffet & go for the continental breakfast. The full breakfast buffet is not tasty at all.

Stayed there for one night in August while traveling on business. Exterior and lobby give the definite impression that the hotel's heyday was back in the 60's and 70's. But the room itself was fine - it was a suite and was spacious. Free wi-fi was a definite plus, as was the free business center at which I printed my boarding pass.

There is a gym (more like a health club) and tennis courts located on top of the hotel garage across the street. During the heat wave this week, they were having AC issues. I was there at 7AM and it was hot inside already. There's also a huge pool on the 1st floor of the hotel building. I took a quick swim in it - it was fine. The hot-tub was closed for renovation while I was there.

I could hear folks in the next room coughing and occasionally could hear their muffled voices. Since its a suite, I didn't hear any noise from the hallway. I was awake in the early hours of the morning and gratefully didn't see any bugs (as reported by previous posters). In fact, the room was very clean.

Overall, I would prefer to stay in a more modern hotel. But for $79, it was perfectly adequate.

Good hotel, nothing memorable though.
Needed a place to stay for one night and it did the trick.
Comfortable rooms with all the necessary amenities, maybe a little shabby. Noisy because of some frat party going on in the hotel. Friendly front desk staff, very efficient. Good value for money.

I think the statement "Nice for some, not good enough for others," applies to this property. Unfortunately I fall in the "not good enough" category. I will try to write this review as honest as possible and you can make your choice.

The thing is this is an OLDER building with semi-remodeled rooms, in downtown Evansville, IN. We were staying here because of a reunion, they were also hosting a conference for a major car/truck manufacture.

We stayed 3 nights. Check-in was friendly & efficient. Lobby was clean. We even had to change rooms because we needed one closer to elevator to suit our needs. Bell-hop Lucy was nice. Parking is free in parking garage across street, with a catwalk connecting to 2nd floor of lobby and no elevator down to lobby (becareful if you have a lot of luggage).

Room nicely decorated, and clean. Mattresses were very OLD and NOT comfortable. Beware very few TV channels offered,(NO............ CNN, FOXnews, ESPN,weather channels) only 24 channels.

Bathroom was small, but clean. I found the shower very hard to adjust the water with OLD fixtures.

Not enough lighting in the room for me.....bathroom lighting was ok.

I did not see any bugs, but was not up for a late trip to the bathroom either. Two other people in my room that were up late, didn't see any bugs either.

One morning one wing of the hotel did not have hot water but I think it was fixed within an hour. Had to be, there were 2 or more conventions there.

Enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the restaurant---$5.99 for a vareity of things, even omlets made to order by a very friendly lady cook.

Close to casino, shuttle to casino.

STANDARDS: included hair dryer, coffee pot, Ironing board/Iron
