We stayed here for two nights in July for a family wedding. The hotel is in dire need of an update - the decor is very dated. We requested a non-smoking room but our room had a pretty bad smell to it - not really smoke, but some sort of cleaner possibly attempting to cover up the smoke smell. The rug in our room was worn and the TV small (like something I would have brought to college in 1999). The bathroom was clean but the linens small and worn. Same thing with the sheets - clean but thin and not your average hotel quality. The only saving grace of the room was the beautiful view of the Ohio River - if only the window looking out on it hadn't been pretty dirty! The service was friendly and helpful (in securing late check in and in getting us directions to the airport) but this place is definitely low-frills. I guess this is what we should have expected for $99 in Evansville, IN. The hotel is attached to the Casino, which is pretty bad compared to other casinos we've visited (Vegas and Foxwoods). But then again, this should probably be expected for a small midwestern city. There is another hotel, Hotel Merigot or something like that, near the Casino that might be a step up from the Casino. If you have a little bit more in your budget than $99/night, you might want to check it out in lieu of the Casino Aztar. Also, no business center at the Aztar and no gym. The hotel is located on Riverside Dr and there is a nice walking/running path along the Ohio River that is very easy to get to from the hotel. A bunch of restaurants in the Casino attached to the hotel and a Starbucks too. There is a Jillians and a Ri Ra two blocks away. We didn't eat at any of them. Parking for the hotel is free and easy - a garage attached to the hotel. I wouldn't stay there again, but if you're on a budget, or just there to try your luck at the Casino and don't mind a worn-down room, then you probably would be okay with it.

This hotel was very nice. The rooms were spacious, clean, and the bedding was fine. The staff was great. Only two things, the tv in the room had a very small screen, I'd say 20 inches. But this hotel is at a casino so I suspect they don't want you watching tv in your room. Also the hair dryer had two speeds, tornado or gale force wind. I would suggest bringing your own. The hotel does charge daily for high speed internet access if you want it. The business center only has one computer, but again this is a casino hotel. If you stay early week, the rates are great. I would stay there again. Lots of restaurants on at the hotel and adjuacent casino and you can charge all of them to your room. Free parking is a plus also.

Hotel is worn and was very cheaply constructed and furnished to begin with. Walls are paper thin, linens and towels are paper thin. Hotel and buffet staff were indifferent and lackadaisicle. Gave it two stars because it was clean and has a tremendous air conditioing system. Otherwise, would only consider it a decent deal if it was priced at what it's worth: about half of what they charge now.

Hotel is nowhere near what it tries and claims to be. Employees must be tremoundously underpaid because they bring no joy to their jobs.

Stayed one night in June, 2005...Very helpful desk staff, very clean room with scenic river view...only complaint I had was having my ID perused several times while going through to the casino (I'm 31 and looking it, unfortunately :-P), but that had nothing to do with the hotel itself...looking forward to going back here soon.
