Spent the day at Holiday World and left the park at closing. Temps were in the 90's. Arrived at the hotel. Lobby was refreshingly cool. Got off the elevator on the 3rd floor and it was like walking into an oven. Smell was unpleasant too. Went into our room and it was also sweltering. Air conditioner was turned completely off! I made reservations over a week ago, so it's not like they didn't know we were coming. I can understand wanting to save money or be Greeen, but this is crazy! They really need to consider the comfort of their guests. It took over 3 hours for the room temperature to reach 75. We were at Holiday World from open to close and I was looking forward to a shower and a nice relaxing evening at he hotel, not more heat and sweat. I don't stay at Choice Hotels often. The last time I did was in 2008 in Glasgow, Kentucky on a day when the temp was over 100 and, strangely, the air conditioning was off when we checked into our room at that hotel, as well. Anyway, back the the Ferdinand Comfort Inn. The staff was friendly. The room was reasonably clean. The television worked. The bed was okay ,except for the pillows. The pillows were too small to use one, but two big to sleep on two comfortably...for me anyway. The bathroom was farily large. The toliet in our room continued to run after flushing, unless you jiggled the handle. The breakfast buffet was pastries (a bit dry), bagels, cereal, boiled eggs, orange and apple juice. They also have 3 waffle makers (but one was out of order). The waffles were good though and the coffee was pretty good too. They have a very small indoor pool that we didn't use, since we had spent much of the day at Splashin' Safari. I mainly chose the Comfort Inn because I figured it would be about the same as most other Comfort Inns (which it was) and to get airline miles. I was a little afraid of booking an unknown non-chain hotel, but now that I've seen Santa's Lodge (from the outside, at least), I think I would book it, if I were going to be in the area again. It was about a minute away from Holiday World vs. 7 miles to the Comfort Inn. The rate for a similar room was $99 vs the $107 AAA rate I paid at Comfort Inn.
