Our stay at the Ivy Court Inn was just a single night – in town to tour the University of Notre Dame.
Our room was a 2 queen bed suite, which had 2 rooms. In the living room area was a sofa bed, small table and chairs, and a tall bar type unit that held the refrigerator and storage, below a wall hung flat screen TV. In the bedroom, 2 queen beds with another flat screen. Although it's great to have an extra sink and counter area outside of the bathroom, but this one was just a couple feet from one of the beds. Because of this awkward placement, it was tricky to use in the morning, before everybody had woken up – since an over the sink light would have needed to be turned on and would have lit up the entire room. Also – the bathroom door went directly into the bedroom. This was fine really – but again – was bright in the morning when it opened and closed before all were awake. This is opposed to a bathroom door that it sort of around the corner in most hotels.
Overall, this was a super nice place. The awkwardness of the room setup was not that big of a deal. The important things were, the rooms were very clean. Beds were bright white, clean and fresh. Although the windows were a bit on the small side, they could be opened easily for fresh air. We were located at the end of a hall on the 2nd floor and heard nothing in the way of other guests.
Breakfast was very nice. The usual cereals, breads, and fruit along with hot items – eggs, sausage, pancakes. There was a choice of either scrambled eggs or over-easy eggs. Real plates – real silverware – real glasses – were appreciated! The breakfast room seemed a bit small but there wasn't a crowd – plenty of comfortable seating...including 2 large cushy chairs in front of a large TV.
For dinner, we walked from the Inn over to Eddy Street and went to a restaurant called Between the Buns. Decent sports bar fare – and that night they happened to be playing a trivia game, which we took part in. We also walked the following morning from the Inn over to the ND campus for our college visit. It's not too far of a walk – although the parking is plentiful over on campus and keeping our car at the Inn wasn't really necessary.
This is a very nice, well cared for Inn. Although our time there was short, we would go back there, if we were to come to Notre Dame again.
