A man working the front desk was the rudest person I have ever encountered in customer service. He told a family member that accidently locked her key in her room, that she was not a customer of the hotel (even though it was our second night staying there). He refused to help her, told her that the room number she claimed she was staying in, didn't exist. Even after other family members went to speak with the man, he still refused to help, was completely unreasonable. Only after a long argument did he call in another worker to take my family member to their room to let them in.
An hour later he approached a group of us that were in the pool area and made rude comments about how we were being too loud, and told us he had called the cops on us. (This was the first time he had attempted to speak to our group, and at no point did he actually just come out and ask us to keep our talking voices down, or that we needed to return to our rooms to continue our conversations.) Nope, instead he approached us with threats and a condescending attitude.
Beyond the horrible customer service, our bathroom had ants, our heater in the room was broken ( and it was 20 degrees or less at night), the indoor pool and spa were cold. The only redeeming quality about this place were the nice suites which a few family members rented. However, the disgraceful attitude of the front-desk clerk really overshadowed the whole experience.
On top of it all, I spoke with the other desk clerks on check-out, and e-mailed the general manager to file a complaint about the rude desk-clerk, and I have not so much as received an apology.
Our family will NOT be returning to this hotel upon our next Thanksgiving trip to Fort Dodge.
