Once again what a joy to share a great dining experience at an all time classic eateries, Yia Yia’s Bistro in Overland Park. This past Sunday my wife and I enjoyed another fine PB&J meal but as important as the fine dining experience, the incredible service/entertainment we received from your waitress extraordinaire, Shelly Carlson stirred me to write this letter.
Shelly greeted us with a huge smile, took our drink order and was swift to return, anxious to share with us about your daily specials. (One of the things that I am a real stickler about is timing. When seated, I believe a suggested drink order and wine list should be offered within one minute, and served within 2 minutes!) By the way, no wimpy pours at Yia Yia’s!
Cheri ordered your magnificent Greek greens served on an ice cold plate and I had your outstanding Cesar! By the way, I hate it when a salad is presented, but it has been left to smolder on a hot plate right out of the dishwasher!
Shelly’s suggestion for my wife’s entre was right on! Cheri loved her generous portion fresh salmon and my pork chop was outstanding, perfectly blended with you unique potato/turnip mix. By the way, the 2008 Catena Malbec was fab!
In this lousy economy, I firmly believe that good ole’ belly laughter is the greatest of all therapy. So now the fun part! We have never laughed so hard at a restaurant. I think everyone around us “wanted what we were having!” HA HA! (Remember that great line from When Harry Met Sally?) Not only was the meal fabulous but the entertainment was free! If you want to laugh till your sides hurt, the New Theater Dinner Theater is great, but the place for fine dining, perfectly blended with personalized entertainment, come to Yia Yia’s and ask for Super Shelly!~ My hats off to Shelly and the outstanding service we received at the old classis, Yia Yia’s!
Please be assured, we will do our part to tell others about your wonderful food, the fine dining experience and most of all the fun from one who knows how to laugh, Shelly Carlson cures any funk!~
