“Not a stress-free B&B, though it's pretty”

This is a beautiful, high ceilinged historical home that has rooms on the 2nd floor and an Italian restaurant on the first; a wine/beer bar is in the nearby restored barn. It all looks pretty, but there are a couple of issues that detracted from our experience. The common area on the 2nd floor - where the rooms are - echoes every noise that occurs there. So guests that returned late from the wine bar woke us up immediately when they returned - seriously we could hear every word they said so clearly, as well as every footstep and movement. 2nd issue is the steep curving stairs up to the 2nd floor. They're lovely to look at, but difficult to take luggage up, and, as coffee is only available on the first floor, a poor woman carrying coffee fell down and dropped everything on the way to her room - ouch!! 3rd thing is the focus on rules - we stay in a lot of B&Bs internally and I haven't seen such a focus on rules before. From the home page of their website you'll see lots of text on all the rules and how they'll charge extra if you arrive outside of the 3-6pm check-in times (amazing!), and how much it'll cost if you use candles in the room. Then they made us initial these same rules upon check-in! Just really over the top. So pretty place, just several things - like morning coffee, a focus on rules like we're teenagers, and quiet! - make it someplace I would not recommend. Cute town, but surely there are better places to stay.

“Perfect Historical B&B”

My wife and I recently stayed at Rosemark Haven B&B during a quick weekend getaway to Bardstown. Our expectations were exceeded with the quality of the accommodations and services. While our stay was only one night in length, we immediately felt a strong bond with the property.

The main house has been beautifully restored with countless ornate details. Our room, the Browne, was just off of the main lobby. We thought the location might be a negative due to the foot traffic, but putting a positive spin on it, we were closer than the other rooms to the freshly baked cookies! The noise level really did not bother us much.

The massive bedroom was almost overpowering when we were shown to our quarters by the helpful staff. My wife shot me a huge smile and I knew that I had “won points” by picking this great location.

Because the front of the property unfortunately faces a modern gas station and fairly busy road, the owners have wittingly shifted the focus of the property to the back courtyard area, which seems to be straight out of a scene from Gone with the Wind. The grounds seem to have the feeling of a small plantation.

The wine bar was a perfect spot to start the evening. We toured the well restored barn with a much needed glass of pure relaxation. Feeling no comprehension of time, we took our wine glasses with us and strolled back to the main house for an amazing dinner. The entrees were perfect portions and left just the appropriate amount of room for dessert. After dinner, we carried another glass of wine back to our room and relaxed by the glowing fireplace. Perfect! And, the best part was never having to take out my wallet to pay for each drink or meal. They kindly placed them on our bill to be settled upon departure.

The owners and staff were exceptionally helpful and a pleasure to chat with. My wife and I are already planning our next trip to Rosemark Haven!

Spent two nights at this B & B last weekend and was very pleased with the accommodations. 4 women traveling together and stayed in the Federal House, separate from the main B & B. We had a 2-story, well-restored federal style house all to ourselves. Beds were comfortable with high-quality linens, also had fridge, microwave and coffeemaker. Lighting was a little dim -- would have liked at least one place bright enough to put on make-up. Breakfast was very good, tho a little on the "light"side one morning. They are somewhat rigid about a few things, such as alcohol and breakfast time. They also have a separate building called the Wine Bar which is a good place to have a drink & chat. Had dinner there one night & on the whole it was good -- some variability in quality, but interesting dishes, excellent service and lovely atmosphere.

My husband and I stayed at the Rosemark Haven for our anniversary vacation and had a wonderful time. We stayed in the Halstead room on the second floor. We loved the double jacuzzi tub, although it was difficult to work. The only real con was the lack of a standing shower. I had a hard time washing my hair in the tub with the hand held shower attachment.

The breakfast was sensational! The last morning they served an egg dish with Bearnaise sauce which I don't like. The chef came around to see how everything was and noticed that I hadn't eaten it and asked about it. She then went back to the kitchen and made some amazing scrambled eggs, which I loved. She also brought out some extra scones for use to take with us on our last morning.

We chose to eat dinner in the Rosemark Restaurant one of the nights we were there. It was by far the best food we had in all of Bardstown. We also went down to the wine bar that evening and tried a couple of different wines and had dessert.

The owners were not around a whole lot, but they were friendly and helpful when they were. The other employees were nice, but mostly tried to stay behind the scenes. We really only saw them at breakfast, which is fine with us.

Now the big CON: the Inn is located right off of the main street in Bardstown, which means lots of traffic noise, including sirens at all hours, and construction noise early in the morning. We were really bothered by the noise level. If this Inn was in the middle of the countryside it would be perfect in every way. It's just too noisy where it is.

Rosemark is by far the best B&B we have ever stayed in,,,,,the food was fantastic. A truly southern experience, homemade cookies on arrival. The rooms were fantastic in a very historic plantation home converted to B&B. Each room was attractively appointed; even had handmade soap from a local soap maker.....very nice touch. Breakfast and dinner were out of this world, excellent service. We are already planning a return trip.
