We visited Guntown Mountain on Saturday and was hoping the reviews I had read on here before we went were a little harsh. I tried not to have a negative attitude and really tried to enjoy myself. When we arrived to the top (by shuttle, a little scared to ride the lift), our first stop was the overlook of Cave City and it was pretty, so we took a few pics. Then we moved on to the left side of the town and started looking in the "western" town. There really wasn't much to see. A few of the buildings had some antiques hanging on the walls and the sheriff was trying to get people to pay $1 to put a relative in jail (which we didn't do b/c the price to get in was already high). We saw a piece of paper hanging on one of the buildings telling us what time the gunfight would start, so after we walked through the rest of the town (which took about 5 minutes) we set outside to wait for the show. The gunfight lasted about 5 minutes then a voice came over the loudspeaker instructing us that the magic show would start in 15 minutes. The magic show wasn't too bad and we had a few laughs and after it, was instructed that the next gunfight would start in 15 minutes, so we made our way back outside to watch. The gunfight lasted maybe 10 minutes and it was a little better than the first one. At this point my 5 year old was ready to go. I will say we did not stay for the rest of the shows (the Can-Can and the Country Music) because I did not want to listen to him whine about leaving. Had he not been with me, we would have probably stayed to get our money's worth. My main issue with GM is that there is nothing to do between the shows. You just sit and wait. Now, if you don't have children, then that might be ok, but I thought this place was for children as well as adults. I do understand that this is a tourist town and there has to be money made, but I guess for $14.95 (adults) and $8.95 (children) I was hoping for a little more. Now, you can take what I have typed and throw it out the window (as I did when I read the reviews) and go on to GM or you can believe me when I say save your money, stay in a nicer hotel and play in the pool with your kids. You will have more fun and maybe be a little cooler. **If you don't have kids and enjoys some shows, then this might be a place for you.
