A great night's sleep in their Tempurpedic (sp) bed last year led me back to the Crowne Plaza. The rooms are on the older side and the overall look is a salute to horse culture. Since I live in hotels for a third of the year, I've developed small rituals when I walk into a room. (I know you do this!) A kick under the double bed in room 1068 revealed nothing but empty space so I drop to my knees and peek under the bed and wow...popcorn, paper, dust, hair, plastic and stuff I didn't care to examine closely. I've attached the pics. The other bed had boards in place and considering the late hour, I decide to stay put. I spoke to a receptionist who offered to move me but again, it was late, it was for one night only, it's a Crowne Plaza; if that was the only bad thing about the room then leave it be.
So as I lay there watching TV, I notice a little bug land on the pillow next to me. Thinking it's a gnat, I reach over to brush it away and it hops. I sit up, and another one hops on and hops away! A friend's dog once had fleas and so I knew exactly what I was looking at. I moved rooms less than 10 minutes after that. The hotel made no excuses for the fleas and charged me the full rate. I won't be heading back there again. The bedding is great, and the property is convenient but look at the Hyatt downtown or any Hilton property instead. ICHotels needs to really evaluate this property because it lowers their standards.
