“Nice suites”

We traveled to Lexington for a wedding. The Doubltree Hotel itself is quite nice and has a lovely lobby. The hotel recently changed from a Sheraton hotel to the Doubletree. It was obvious the personnel at the front desk were new. The girl had trouble finding our reservation and was slow getting us checked in. A day later this same girl gave out totally incorrect directions to a local winery.

Our room was a suite with a living room, bedroom and bathroom - very nice and roomy. The first evening we discovered that the hot water on the sink did not work. Fortunately there was hot water in the tub so we decided to wait until the morning to report it. We reported it very early and then went sightseeing. When we returned late that afternoon we still did not have hot water & it was apparent that no one had tried to repair it. We felt the hotel should have left a message or notified us in some way when the problem would be corrected or that a part needed to be ordered. We didn't expect that nothing would be done while we were gone all day.

I would stay at this hotel again but the new management needs to work out a number of problems.

“Nice place for being Pet Friendly”

This hotel is undergoing a face lift. Most of the inside is finished but they are working on the entrance and it's pretty messy. Other than that it was a very nice place to stay with our pet. The staff was extremely friendly, especially the manager and front desk people. The room was large and clean. The age of the building showed but not to the extent that it was unattractive. Bedding was good, tub/shower/jacuzzi was large, lighting was poor however. I would recommend this hotel if you are traveling with a small pet.

My family stayed here 1 year ago and we really liked the hotel. Great room service, they lets us have our dog in the room, and there is a Panera just down the street.

This summer we spent one night here and had a very bad experience. The hotel is under new ownership.

- we had booked a suite and were provided with a standard room.
- when we called to change rooms it took 15 minutes to get into our new room. it was 9:00 pm and our 22 month old son was melting down.
- the room reeked of cigarette smoke
- the shower handle was missing so you needed to fanagle the valve to make it work.

Not sure if we would consider staying here again.

“Great Experience, wonderful staff, comfortable suites”

Doubletree Guest Suites Lexington

19 Aug 2007

Stayed two nights, Aug 17-19, at this location. Great rate via Hotwire (Total for both nights with taxes/fees was just under $152). All staff we encountered were very friendly, helpful, and professional. They really seemed to enjoy working there and it showed. Yummy chocolate-walnut cookies at check-in, served warm (even scored an extra cookie by asking very nicely and admitting that we had become quickly addicted). Nice touch.

The room was large with separate living and sleeping areas. Cabe TV and phone located in each area. Big bathroom with huge whirlpool tub/shower combo. Jets weren't very strong but the tub still provided for a warm, relaxing soak after a long day.

Bed was comfortable, though a little on the firm side. Squeaked a bit a times when one of us changed positions. An extra blanket, along with extra pillows, was stored in the closet area of the bathroom. Towels were thick and soft and were available in a sufficient number for our stay without utilizing housekeeping services.

Room was generally clean. The furnishings do show a bit of wear and tear but are in good shape overall. A small section of the wall next to the a/c unit and behind one of the night stands appeared to have sustained some water damage. Small fridge in room, microwave on request for an additional charge. Wireless internet worked well but also required an additional payment.

Pool is off the back of the hotel. Non-handicapped access from second floor of hotel down a number of steps. Pool did not require use of the card key to access which seemed to us to be a safety concern. Hotel does have security however that did patrol the pool area during our visit. Pool was nice size though not heated. Going after sunset, even in the summer can make for a chilly swim. Towels available poolside.

Location is in a shopping center with a Panera Bread restaurant and a Bob Evans across the street. Easy access to downtown and University of Kentucky campus. Kentucky Horse Park about 15 miles away.

One of the staff mentioned an upcoming multi-million dollar renovation for this location, not sure when. Would definitely stay here again given the opportunity.

Hotel is now a Doubletree Suites. I had booked our group of 12 rooms thru group sales. All rooms were supposed to be 2 doubles with a pull out sofa bed in the living room portion. Most of us got the rooms we booked and the ones that didn't were moved the next afternoon after some urging to the front desk. We were lucky. Other groups were not and ended up with junior suites which are just two doubles with a refrigerator. Also, there are no rollaways. So if you're counting on that extra bed, you may not get it if you check in late. The suites are partitioned with doors that go 3/4 of the way to the ceiling. They are NOT sound proof. It was nice for the privacy though. The pool was closed for two days while we were there because of a chemical imbalance. While it didn't affect us that much, other guests were very upset. The location is great with an Applebee's, Panerra, and Japanese steakhouse all in the same parking lot. Numerous other restaurants are within 1/4 mile. Also easy access to Route 4. Hotel staff did a good job as they were transitioning their system to Hilton and they were sold out as well. A lot for them to handle and they did it well.
