I frequently travel for business and have stayed at the Stockade three times now, each time in a different room. Here are some of the highlights of each:
Escape room: This room is very large, with 2 beds, beautiful marble floor and countertop in the bathroom. The bathroom has a bidet, something kinda fun for us Americans who don't normally have them.
Red and blue room: This room features an adjoining 2nd floor balcony which is beautiful and especially nice for smokers (no smoking in the house).
Garden room: This room has a deep Jacuzzi tub and the best shower I’ve ever taken! It too has an adjoining 2nd floor balcony.
Breakfast is homestyle eggs and bacon or sausage, omelets, waffles etc..all made to order. Janice (the innkeeper) will accommodate timely special requests as well. I'm not thrilled with the coffee, but I admit I am a coffee snob, so I normally stop for a Starbucks on my way to work no matter where I stay. To be fair, I have heard fellow guests compliment how great the coffee is, so like I said, I’m probably much fussier than most.
Really the nicest thing about staying at the Stockade is the company over breakfast. Some mornings it’s just me and Janice; other mornings there's a full house and very lively conversation in the breakfast room. Either way, the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming in a way that the chain hotels never are. For someone like me who travels a lot, this place is a refreshing change from the usual corporate travel establishments. Janice also has corporate rates for business travelers, so do ask about that.
Hope to see you there!
