Thoroughly enjoyed our stay with charming hosts, Alice and Dick Thompson. The Gray Cape was delightful with all the comforts of home. Everything was first class, especially the beds. No scaled down thrift store quality rental junk in this house! Only accessories you would buy yourself such as dishes, glasses, pots and pans, etc. The upstairs bedroom was huge and very private with 1/2 bath, making it ideal for two couples. The downstairs bedroom with King bed was huge, airy, and very comfortable with his and her closets. The living room had a lovely fireplace and wonderful view of the lobster wharf across the street. The dining room table was large enough for six, and the garage has been turned into a breezeway overlooking the wharf for outdoor dining. Also, the water is of drinking quality and there is plenty of hot water for showers or baths. Right across the street from the house is a lobster restaurant right on the docks (Robinson's Lobster Wharf) and next door is a great wine and cheese shop. On top of that, the owners son is a lobster fisherman and will deliver lobsters at very reasonable prices right to your door! Who could ask for anything more in a rental house??? Already have reservations for next year!

My husband and I have stayed with Alice and Dick Thompson on 4 occasions, and each has been a flawless week. Ms. Thompson has thought of every possible convenience for a comfortable, carefree stay. The cottages are set on a beautiful green lawn with a direct view of the water (one of the cottages has a deck (with furniture) that actually sits over the water!), they are well cared for on the exterior and are sparkling clean inside, with comfortable furniture, a color TV, a well-equipped kitchen and a nice bath. And there's plenty of water pressure and hot water. The cottages are just rustic enough to be fun but modern enough to be very accommodating. We loved that not only is there is a lobster pot w/ cooking instructions in the kitchen, there is a lobster pound right next door to buy lobster rolls for lunch or the perfect crustacean for dinners. The cottages are near to Booth Bay Harbour and lots of restaurants and shops and galleries, plus they are well situated for day trips out to lots other little towns of interest.
On one trip, we brought our bikes with us from VA and biked along the tiny road of Southport and explored that way. On a couple of mornings when the weather was especially nice we hopped into Ms. Thompson's sail boat and she sailed us across to Booth Bay for breakfast! How about that! We have been to Maine many times and, just for variety's sake, when we venture out on day trips, we've investigated other possibilities for cottages for the next trip. There's no contest, Thompson cottages the finest we have seen.

“Thompson Inn and Cottages - a great place to cook your own lobster dinner in Maine”

Our experience at the Thompson Inn was probably the best vacation experience we have ever enjoyed. The accommodations were excellent, with a kitchion, living room and bedroom, and under the cabinet, we even found a lobster pot and complete instructions on a sign on the wall showing how to cook lobster. We went to the lobster pound across the bay and picked up some lobsters and came back to our room for the best lobster dinner we had in Maine. Wonderful. And at Christmas, we received a beautiful photo Christmas Card from the entire Thompson family. We highly recommend the Thompson Inn and Cottages and plan to visit them again. Bill and Nancy Lasch
