“Small, authentically real, dinner-by-dinner, customer-by-customer, menu option-by-menu option”
This is our favorite restaurant in Brunswick ME (and elsewhere!). We do not dine out often but whenever we do, this is the only place for us. The Greek and Italian style food features local produce, meat, seafood, and foraged wild mushrooms. On our last visit, we were surprised and delighted by a "Chicken Tenders" appetizer made with pieces of locally foraged chicken mushroom in a crisp, light crust and served with marinara sauce. This little restaurant seats about 30 people--be sure to make a reservation--and meets all our expectations for a great restaurant. Friendly, efficient, knowledgeable wait staff; cozy surroundings (albeit a bit noisy because of the tin ceiling); tasty, fresh, innovative menu options (we've never had a mediocre or poorly-prepared appetizer, entree, or dessert here); and a short but discriminating wine list that includes Greek and Italian wines as well as some from California. At our last visit, we asked our waitress about the wines and she was able to advise us quite knowledgeably. We enjoy being able to sample Greek wines, which we rarely find elsewhere. This restaurant also serves wine tastings of the Greek wines. Oh, and did I mention that the prices are quite reasonable? The two of us generally spend about $100 for dinner, which includes a bottle of wine. We generally split the ample size portions of appetizers, salads, and entrees, but we usually can't resist getting our own yummy dessert with the restaurant's own unusual versions of homemade ice cream on the side. If you live in the area or vacationing nearby, make sure to visit this relative newcomer to the highly competitive restaurant scene in Brunswick ME.
